no manufacturer voids warranties for memory or HDD changes. None.

but they may not give you proper technical support. that varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. usually, though, they only give you a hard time if you switch to an "unsupported" operating system, which wouldn't be an issue with Apple...unless you were calling in asking for help with your Bootcamp'd copy of Win7. lol.

something to keep in mind for future reference.

Unless Apple updates the screens or lowers the price (they probably wont), you could be fine buying a Macbook now. The new I core cpus don't get much better battery life, besides the performance there would likely be no difference. So if you don't play the most cutting edge video games or are into heavy video encoding or something, it might not be worth it to wait it out. The only thing that is iffy is that they might drop their prices on SSDs.

There is a big different for professional users who work in media production like myself. But if you are talking about normal casual users like checking emails and blogging, that's obviously make senses.

    Computers are tools.

If Apple fails to refresh the MBP by the end of this month. I will be forced to shell out the extra $$ for Vaio Z

I would love to get the signature series. I love the Mosaic design, but i'm not ready to spend close to 5k on a notebook. That's a good down payment for a Subaru STi or Evo

The Vaio Z starts at 1800 USD ... Are you sure you're in the market for a new notebook? You're really uninformed for someone who is. I mean how do you even expect Sony to charge 4500 USD for a mainstream notebook?

I'm uninformed? Sony has made laptops in this price range for quite sometime. Do you see any of these in the outlet section of the sonystyle site or anywhere else? This is not a mainstream laptop. This notebook is fully loaded with two 256GB SSD's which makes a huge difference in price. It also is built in a carbon fiber case, which also bumps the price up, and last but not least the hybrid graphics and 8gb of ram, and assembled in Japan, while still remaining at 3.04lbs.

Before making uninformed replies to posts. "You" should do the proper research on the topic of discussion. I currently own 3 Vaio's my favorite being the TT which was $3,100. And yes mother im in the market for a new notebook. enough said :p

I love the MBP, I just wish we could see i5,i7. No pun intended to apple lovers.

Id wait. I assume the new ones will be something like switchable graphics i5, with something like a 5670, or gts360. Seriously, it's about time they stop selling the 9600's.....(2 generations old, if you count the 3xxm series)
