Slashdot - Why Developers Are Switching To Macs
Just thought I'd share; btw, I'm a developer (on a MBP) =D

There's a much lengthier, more technological, and, IMO, more interesting article on developers switching from Windows to Mac OSX here on ArsTechnica. Interestingly, though, this passage:
Were you formerly a Windows/Linux/Unix programmer? I do most of my programming in Linux now myself; its Unicode terminal by default is a big advantage over Windows/Mac for me and its terminal commands are better than Windows as well. But since most of my stuff is Java/C++, outside of the unicode terminal it really doesn't matter that much to me what platform I'm programming on so long as it's got the tools I need. -
I'm a Java developer, I live with Eclipse open and lately have started using MySQL (used Intersystem's Cache before).
Formerly I used Win XP, but now I can't imagine going back. I don't know, it just feels "good" (if that makes any sense...) to work in OS X. Terminal is definitely a big plus for me, especially since our servers run Solaris or Ubuntu. -
I do perl, python, objective-c, and java programming on os x and haven't had a problem. OS X also got me interested in BSD as well, so I'm dabbling with my own FreeBSD server and thinking about converting my Xbox into a BSD server as well for fun. Right now, I'd rather do development on OS X than Windows any day.

All of the reasons above, plus price competitive nowadays
cheers ...
