I'm having a difficult time finding drivers for the 8600M GT (more up to date drivers than those that come with the bootcamp stuff) that will aloow the MBP to sleep properly.

Have any of you guys that game and stuff found one that works well?

I don't believe video card drivers affect whether or not your MBP will sleep. You can change those settings in your control panel.

Trust me, its a graphics driver related issue.

The fact that sleep is disabled in the bootcamp included drivers more or less confirms that.

I know someone else has to have ran into this problem.

Also, adjusting the keyboard backlight doesn't seem to work right. Any solution to this?

This might not help but I read that nvidia driver version 158.22 is the most stable.

From my experience, Sleep works with the Boot Camp Drivers (ForceWare 101.34).

You run into problems with some of the laptopvideo2go drivers, they are the ones with issues. I originally had Vista Ultimate x86 installed with Boot Camp 1.3 b, upgraded to 162.18 and Sleep worked fine. Then I tried several 158.xx drivers with no luck (infinite loop errors). This is the point when Sleep stopped working. I couldn't even get it to work after reinstalling the Boot Camp Drivers. So I reinstalled Windows and Sleep worked once again, with the original Boot Camp Drivers.

Now I have XP Pro installed via Boot Camp 1.4 b. Had the same exact problem with Standby (aka Sleep). It worked with 162.18, then I did the same thing I described above. Now I'm using the Boot Camp Drivers and Standby work perfectly.

So if you want Sleep to work in Vista [or XP], you may need to reinstall Windows, then you should probably keep the Boot Camp Drivers or maybe try 162.18. Anyways, that's what worked for me.
