hey, I am currently using Windows Vista right now and it pains me that my games are running very sluggish and inconsistent. I used to run windows vista on my MBP before and it was great, but now its really sluggish.

I am playing Counter Strike Source at 1280 768 resolution mostly everything is on high except the AA and HDR, my framerates dip from anywhere to 110 to 30 FPS. I mean on my old hp with a nvidia 8600M GS I could get 80-100 FPS easily on these settings and this MBP has a 8600m GT :(

I am using the 169.28 drivers from laptopvideo2go does anyone have any solutions?

I am not quite sure if I installed the latest directX 10 but I did do the windows update.

    Cheers!

I heard dx 9 runs better than dx 10 so that might be a problem. Do you have the penryn MBP?

DX9 runs much much better than DX10. DX10 is pretty much useless on any game that wasn't made for specifically DX10.

true, but unrelated. counter strike runs in dx9 regardless of whether you are in windows 2k, windows xp, or windows vista. it runs in dx9. period.

if you want more consistent gaming performance, consider an upgrade to windows xp.

well im sure downgrading isnt the only fix to this problem. My old laptop with a 8600M GS ran 80-100 fps constant in source at the SAME settings in vista. Maybe its the graphics driver that I am using?
