So I decided to try and enter my serial number and everything today and I got a nasty surprise ): Chat log below.
*
Hi, my name is Milagros H. Welcome to Apple!
*
Milagros H: How may I help you today?
*
You: Hi Milagros
*
Milagros H: Hello
*
You: I purchased a Macbook Pro on June 20th and I'm trying to get a copy of Snow Leopard with the up-to-date program
*
You: So I entered my serial number and everything and got to the 'verify info' page during checkout
*
Milagros H: Great!
*
You: But it's telling me that I already got a copy or something
*
Milagros H: I am sorry the up to date is not working yet online, you can check back later. Or you can print out the form and mail or fax it in.
*
You: Oh it isn't?
*
You: Do you have any idea when it will be?
*
Milagros H: No I am sorry, you can check back at a later time.
*
You: Okay thank you
*
You: I think I'll check back at a later time

news to me as i did the online upgrade on friday last week and it went through perfectly, gave my CC info and placed the order with no hiccups.
-
That's strange. I just placed my order for SL UpToDate disk ($13 CAD) online and it went smoothly. I never had to enter a S/N or date of purchase as I had ordered the machine from Apple's online store. Maybe they're still finalising the process for those who didn't order their Macs directly from Apple (?).
-
How did you guys update online? I tried going through the update process, but my shopping cart shows nothing.
I just logged in using my apple id. -
No, I did get it directly from Appke; just not from their online store. I got it from a Apple Retail Store in Irvine, CA.
-
Sorry, that's what I meant by "direct". When you buy from the Apple store (not online) it's treated the same as if you had bought it at Best Buy, where you have to enter the S/N, date of purchase etc... where all the info has to be verified. Maybe the verification process isn't up and running.
I ordered from the Online Apple store and it didn't ask me for any verification and the process works right now. -
I don't see where to do it online.
-
I just did mine like 3 hours ago. Worked perfectly.

Hm, just tried mine again. Apparently they fixed it.
-
Will they ship a disc or is this for download update?
-
My understanding is that they're shipping an actual disk. That was the reasoning for charging the $10 fee to begin with.
-
they will ship a disc, i placed an order for SL on apple.com and i have a shipping date any everything.
-
Lol everyone has the same shipping date... "by August 28"
-
nope.. there are 2...
in the US its "Delivers on August 28th"
outside of the US its "Ships on August 28th" -
Hmm weird. Mine says ships BY Aug 28th... so theoretically it could ship on the 26th and I could receive it on Sept 2nd.
-
ermm error...it could ship pn 28th august and you'll receive it a few days later.
-
i still believe where I am in the US and it says delivers on the 28th that I'll get it on the 28th. I did pre-orders for Leopard and Tiger and they said the same thing, and they were actually delivered to my door the morning of release.... so I'm counting on this one being here Friday just like Apple says... again.
-
): Ugh, I was really hoping you were right this time, doh123... now I have to be jealous for a couple of days.
-
that stinks.. mine showed up today as expected
-
do you have any idea where they ship from?
-
i think new orders were delivered on the 28th... and Up-to-date orders were shipped on the 28th...
Snow Leopard Up-to-date program does NOT work online, FYI.
