Ah yes, the old fanboy standby of, "I have no issues with my computer, therefore no problems actually exist. If you do have problems, it must be something you did."

Do you honestly believe that most folks who has problems just heads straight to the message boards without trying to troubleshoot with the company directly?

I agree with circa. I think overall Leopard is the best OS out there. Well, it depends on who you are... but let me clarify that to say for the average end user, the multimedia junkie, and for some art and content developers, Leopard is the best OS available.

Its not the best for many business users who require interoperability with microsoft software. There are also other types of users who wouldn't really be set with leopard. Still, the polish on leopard is pretty amazing compared to windows and linux. Now, linux is great. It is the future. It's just still not ready for the average consumer.

I stand by the statement that for many types of people, Leopard is the overall best OS on the market.

i know for a fact that is what many do, NBR's Apple Section for example,

fanboy? uh huh, I think as I type this replay on my PC, which I use every single day. how did what I say imply that no problems actually exist? I simply said the problems that have been mentioned are MINOR, compared to the real scope of things.

I definitely agree with that, and like I said, it is the best overall package, but I can definitely seeing it moving far beyond that, but I am glad they have focused on what the overall usability, and are really moving forward to the next step with Snow Leopard.

Linux is a great system, but unfortunately its complete openess can actually be a large weakness in actually getting a system that is somewhat competitive compared to a system like Leopard, going after the group of people, not to mention there is quite a bit more motivation for people getting payed to develop an OS. Maybe that is MS problem right now? I wonder if they may just be a little tight for cash and can't pay their developers recently? ^_^ (I kid of course)

it is most likely going to be 129 for people who are upgrading from tiger or previous but free for those who have leopard.

Just wondering, do you have any rumours or sources on that? Or prediction? Both are fine, I'm just wondering!

But I agree that it won't be a full $129, at least for Leopard users. Maybe a discounted $39 or 49, but I don't expect it to be full price.

Me too :p, but I prefer to be realistic in my predictions :D.

Not saying wywern209's prediction won't come true, but I don't believe Apple will make it free. Cheap, but not free.

Snow Leopard? They've run out of cats to name the thing? Even OS X Cat would be more original.

It will probably be delayed. Hopefully it will be out by MW'10.

I probably won't buy it. I'll probably be interested in the next iMac by that time...

Naw, they've licensed the name Lynx and Cougar, so they can use that later on. I believe they deliberately named it Snow Leopard to signify that it is not a major update but a "build-on" to Leopard itself.

its a prediction as if apple priced it at all for leopard users, a lot of people will get mad as they don't want to pay for some small updates.

Yes, I didn't pay for the $20 January Software Upgrade in protest of the ridiculous iPod Touch pricing. I did get the $10 iPod Touch App Store update, because it also came with the January Upgrade for those who didn't buy it (a.k.a. me), plus the App Store and such. So Apple's done it before :p.

MS has a 3 year O.S. cycle it's trying to follow. The next O.S. for PC's is scheduled for 2010, my guess is 2011. The next O.S. after that may not be windows at all.

    Midori!

The next 10 years will be really interesting to watch. I wonder just how much of our lives will be online by then (as if its not already enough).

It will be fun to watch all the developments that transpire. I'm wondering how much new things Snow Leopard would bring to the table when it arrives. It'll be a heated rivalry between Microsoft and Apple that will bring lots of great enhancements to their operating systems. Glad I can run both!

I'm going to stay a dual-user for a while :p. I don't expect Microsoft to ever lose the #1 spot, but I do expect Apple to gain around 20%, and Linux possibly even more if the Linux people can figure out how to get the word out.
