Seems there's some sort of odd issue with only some apps running under SL where they don't retain any sort of settings as far as where the window was.

Preview, for example, always opens in the same not-actually-"maximized" position no matter what I do to it. I open a lot of PDF files, so I'd like to be able to specify how they open. (A plus would also be to auto-select the annotate -> comment function).

    Any fix?

Actually I have a similar problem, except mine involves external displays - when I resize my application windows to make use of the increased real estate on my external ACD, the windows remain the same enlarged size, once the ACD is disconnected. Is there any way to create "profiles" where the window sizes are saved?

OP, I am not asking to hijack your thread, but I have a feeling that a similar solution exists for both our problems.

only seen the issue on X11 apps.... X11 never seems to put them back in the right spot for me.... or open new ones where I left them... really annoying in Gimp and a few others, but not really a new issue
