the popularity in the education market helps to boost the average IQ rating. Plus Apple notebooks are more expensive, therefore people with more money and can afford Apple notebooks generally tend to have had a higher level of education which usually requires a higher IQ to attain that level of education. Note, buying an Apple does not mean you are smart or does it make you any smarter. It could also be said that anyone that buys a Dell Precision notebook has a high IQ. Dell Precision's are for engineering types, so it is logical, you won't find any engineers with an IQ below 100.

I'm sure the IQ statistic was derived by the big Apple Marketing Machine. It's all hype. Being a powerbook owner, I buy into that hype 100% though!!!

Being a Windows lover and a frequent Mac basher, I have to grudginly say that it's probably very true.

This is probably true, but consider how many people use the windows/pc platform compared to the os10/powerpc platform. And considering that macs are much more expensive. The owner must be decently well off, and educated.

It depends on how you define "IQ".

Think about it : an uninformed buyer purchasing an overpriced notebook tend to have a low IQ.

    jokes.

"if you want your computer to crash and get all thoes lovley viruses then buy windows if no buy a mac by JB998"

Wow theres an ignorant comment by a mac fanatic. I personaly like macs they are nice machines and are built well but i am a pc user My machines never blue screen or crash i never turn them off i only reboot when i install something that requires it. And i havent gotten a virus in years as long as u have norton and i use firefox so i dont get spam or spyware. are macs more stable maybe but only because they run such limited hardware compared to pcs. I personaly like pcs better because one i can build my own i have the option of any case hardware and software i want. i play games which arent on macs and i have more options i also run linux and other things on the same hardware. so maybe you should be saying if u want ur pc to have outdated hardware and software buy a mac.

humm... this is an old thread so chances are no one's gonna read this. Anyways, i think that the reason apple users have higher iq's is because lots of idoits are duped into buying all kinds of outdated pc comps :decision: because they are "killer deals" (i point the finger at DELL  ) Personally, I have a loaded HP zd8000, and it never fails to impress everyone, even mac users. I took a bunch of internet iq tests and i averaged 147 (ranging from 135 to 153), but i think these scores are bloated cuz im a moron in my third year of community college. At least my laptop can kick some ass!! :hp:

btw apples are ok too, if your a boring lamo! lol :D

    p.s. aren't smilies soooo annoying?!

    bigjohnsonforever....OUT!

I don't like the IQ tests, I feel that intelligance can't be measured by just a number. I think the IQ system is entirely flawed.

Having something as expensive as an Apple Powerbook certainly gives you more confidence, but as a whole, no, I don't think owning a Mac makes you anymore smarter than let's say the average PC user. Let me explain. Since the majority of computer owners have PCs (aka the Windows based computer), it is understandable how at times they are perceived as ones with lower IQs. People are oftentimes gullible creatures, and thus, are scammed into buying things (especially electronics) that are not deservant of its pricetag.

What I meant is this: just look at the shopping channel. They sell obsolete Dell Dimension 3000 (P4 3.0GHz machines for $1299 CDN... yeah sure) PCs for a fortune and yet thousands of people buy them. Considering this doesn't just happen in the shopping channel but even highly reputational electronic stores like Futureshop, Bestbuy and the like, no wonder this is so.

But then again, having what I said earlier on, just think. What is the marketshare of macs? Barely 10% of the computer market or even far less? If one would tell me that PC owners with high IQs (~150 or more) are more than mac users itself, I wouldn't be surprised.

Now ask yourself this: is your comparison a fair one? I know you were only joking (satire cough cough), but you know what I mean.
