    I don't wish buyer's remorse on anyone.

    Good luck.

I don't know if it was buyers remorse, it is hard to tell what it was.

I do feel like I was in the 9th round of a fight though. You might have to have thicker skin than I when owning a Mac. Between some people on this forum to people in person I was getting abused for buying a Mac. If I asked for some help the first reply is "thats what you get for buying a Mac". It got old for sure.

Yeah but what was your reason to buy a Mac? Only reason i would get a macbook pro is for the awesome presentation. Macs don't hardcore game/hdmi so its not for me. But i might buy an iMac 1199 so my gf can be rejoined with her mac favorisim (macbook was her first computer, so she favors them)

Good question. I don't really game and I don't use HDMI, I don't really do anything but the basics. I am what you would call low tech. I bought an iPhone and I love it. Thought other Apple stuff might be worth looking at.

I think if I would have bought a 15" from the start I might have kept it as the 13" was just a tad to small.

I loved OSX though. Seemed easy enough to get used to and it had some cool features.

I had a magic mouse. I am up on a counter sitting on a barstool with my hand flat so it worked perfect so my arm was flat. Just the stupid slow start and then lightspeed back to slow pointer was ruining it.

I am just confused, thought I wanted small, got it and while I could have made it work it was alot of money not to have what I wanted. My Gateway is too big although with my old eyes the dpi is great but the physical size is ridiculous.

Sounds like you needed a little support during the transition. It happens especially if you're totally new to the platform. There are a lot of questions. Some answer themselves while others require some assistance from others. It seems to me in hindsight you may have made some different choices. Here's my $.02.

    1. Get a 15" MBP. You mentioned your eyesight. The 15" has the lowest DPI of all the portable Macs so everything is a little larger.

    2. Try to take advantage of any discounts you can get. If you have a friend or family member in college use their education discount. If you work for a larger company chances are they may have an employee purchase program set up with Apple. I've bought many machines this way and the discount helps quite a bit.

    3. You don't need to spend any more money on a mouse. The touchpad on the MBP is THE best touchpad available. As someone who has owned waaay too many notebook computers (PC and Mac) I've tried them all. So save some cash and use what Apple included in the package.

    4. Hang out at the nearest Apple Retail store. They offer free classes for beginners as well as pros, and you can always make an appointment with a Genius if you have a question or two. This is for the life of the product. It's free so take advantage of it.

    5. If you have questions feel free to post them here and at the Apple support forums. Just do a search before posting to see if the question has been asked before (usually they have), and most people will be happy to answer. For those that give you grief forgive them since they are low life scum. :p

    6. Be assertive with those giving you grief to your face. Explain that you don't appreciate their criticism. If that doesn't work a big stick comes in handy in a pinch.

Best Buy should change their return policy to state your money is on a plane to HQ two minutes after you hand it over and they will actually be making people happier.

I believe what he is saying, but I think comfort of screen size for your eyes is more than synthetic happiness but more well being. But that was not my only reason so it is hard to tell.

I think the MBP is a little too much money for a secondary machine.

Your iPhone will serve you for mobile internet.

My iPhone is great when I am waiting to pickup my kids from school or just on the go but I don't think I would use it much at home.

The reason I have a laptop is I don't have a place to put a desktop somewhere. I am usually on the kitchen counter, kitchen table or couch. I could live with the Gateway laptop but I was excited about trying Mac OS.

Sounds like buyer's remorse to me. Why care so much what other people think? You aren't, in fact, a poster boy for Apple marketing, are you? Buy it nor not depending on what you need, jeez.

I may rank Apple hardware lower than my shoelaces but I need it to run OS X for commercial purposes all the same. I don't get a choice really for now.

Turning your post on it's head, the reason why I face so much concerted hostility from the Apple Fanbois - and indeed, the rather amusing genuine abuse rooted in extreme umbrage - in the face of voicing my usually far more broadly rooted opinions (by dint of owning far more of the damned things - practically every single model of every single generation of the Macbook Pro so far just for starters), is that it's not for everyone, but they can only understand from their point of view, which in most cases is pretty inexperienced. But from their ego's point of view, theirs is the only opinion that matters regardless of worthwhile merit. Do I care? Given the very clear level of my 'opposition', certainly not.

I find that after close to 3 years of OS X ownership that OS X is highly limiting for any Power user but fairly fool-proof for most consumers.

The only true superiority of Mac lies in its design elements (they're sexy), which in a way, inherently compromises performance (especially graphical) and convenience (port shortage, HDMI lacking etc). Also, power management is superior than Windows by a large margin.

It used to be that nothing touched a Mac in design, but these days, even Dell has some very well designed systems.

Vogelbung, I don't care that much that I would not use a Mac for that sole reason but it gets old. I bought a Dodge one time and every time I had a question why it was doing something or it was at the shop first word out of someones mouth was "why did you buy a Dodge".

I don't have many bad things to say about stuff in general, nor do I really praise stuff, I float in the middle.

That said I did like OS X, I liked it better than Vista for sure. I am not a power user though, atleast not anymore. If I could get stuff resolved without needing to ask for help I would.

I will have to second this especially when I enounter the morons at Westworld Computers ( a canadian apple reseller ) or one of the sales monkeys at London drugs... NEITHER can understand how I can possibly own 7 of them currently and not think they are the cats meow . In here I just dont post much. And my apple support bunch prolly have my phone number memorized

Is osx limiting for power users yes, but that is what windoze, and Solaris are for.

Actually, owning 7 of them probably explains it. I think the more of an experienced computer/power user you are, the more you find limitations to the system. Nothing in OS X really impresses me much at all. Some of the iLife software it includes is certainly useful in its own right, but even for something like Photo management, I find Picasa to be hundreds of times superior to iPhoto.
