Like bundled. I don't have to buy it when Leopard is released, right?
I read somewhere, don't remember exactly where, that you can buy iLife 08 for like 50bucks or so... Why would you buy it? Would it work on Tiger as well?
Also another question. Will Leopard come on discs or update or what?
Sorry, my first mac, don't know much about updating OS and stuff..![]()
Thanks!

Leopard should come with iLife '08 bundled. The reason for it being sold separately is so that those who want it now can have it now, as well as those who won't be upgrading to Leopard can use it.
If you buy Leopard to upgrade on your MBP, it will come on disc(s) and you'll install it over Tiger(or if you want a fresh install you can reformat and install Leopard fresh). -
iLife is included when you purchase a new Mac. iLife is not included in the retail version of Mac OS X.
You should be able to reinstall iLife from your Tiger DVD though (The OS X Install DVDs that come with new Macs do include iLife). -
Well, you guys are saying 2 different things... :S
-
My information is accurate
.
Is it clear?
Let me use myself as an example. I purchased a MBP with OS X Tiger. My new Mac also came with iLife which is on the OS X Install DVD Disk 2. Macs come with 2 Install DVDs in case you need to reinstall or perform maintenance or whatever.
When I purchase Leopard, the Leopard DVD will not include iLife. So if I want iLife I will either need to use the Upgrade Installation Method or perform a Clean Install and then manually install iLife from my Tiger DVD. -
iLife comes with your computer, not OS X. So if you have iLife 06 or whatever the version before 08 is on your computer now, you will not get iLife 08 if you buy Leopard. You will have to install iLife 06 from your OS X Tiger DVD that came with your computer (which is not a retail version).
-
like others have said, iLife is not included with os x. it comes with your computer, but not the OS if you buy it separately.
-
I stand corrected.
It appears that you only get iLife '08 bundled if you buy a mac after iLife '08 was released. Depending on how recently you purchased your MBP you may be able to get a free upgrade to iLife '08(if apple is still offering this?).
For future reference: Software included with Leopard -
Yeaps, as others said, iLife comes with the Mac, not with the OS. So getting Leopard will not get your iLife '08.
The same goes for Front Row and Photo Booth right now; currently you can only get these applications when you buy a new Mac. However, these two applications will be applications inside Leopard, so all Macs that install Leopard will get these applications. -
Okay I think I got it, but just one more question:
If iLife (meaning iMovie, iPhoto etc) comes with the Mac and not with the OS, I can still use my current (old) iMovie etc in Leopard, right? -
Yes, read my 2nd post in this thread.
-
Yes, iLife '06/08 will work in Leopard. As long as you have the Install Discs that came with your Mac, where the iLife applications are found.
-
I think that I am ok with tiger and ilife 06. I am pretty satisfied with my "old" imac 17 inch model
-
Tiger is a very solid OS already, for sure.
I'm really excited for Time Machine. I never knew anyone could get this excited over backing up data
.

Congratulations. You are the new apple marketing sucker. Please, join us down the hall for orientation.
-
Haha, yeah, Apple's marketing is really good. All the other companies criticize it, but they wished they could do the same
.
-
Hmm. If its only $69 with the discount, then I might do it, just for the translucent windows.
However, since I never use OS X, it probably wouldn't be worth it. -
Translucent windows? Only the Menu Bar is semi transparent...the new Leopard windows have an iTunes look.
-
My iPhone rebate money is going towards Leopard. Which is really funny since I didn't actually buy my iPhone. I love you, Mr. Jobs...guy love, that is (see Scrubs).
-
And in case you don't have it, Photo Booth is a hoot! My son plays with it for hours.
So Leopard comes with iLife 08, right?
