KeyFolio™ Bluetooth Keyboard and Case for iPad - K39294US - Kensington
-
Depends on your definition of notebook. I think any of these devices can be classified as such.
-
Its classified as a tablet. Its as simple as that.
-
I thought it was classified as a oversized iphone?
-
It's a bit more than a phone, a bit less than a Tablet PC. It doesn't run a standard OS that you can install standard applications onto, which is really probably the one thing that really limits it if you ask me.
I've got one and I enjoy it, but it isn't a full computer. -
I'm just confused as to how the link in the OP actually serves any purpose to the whole debate of "is an iPad a notebook?".
Some phones have keyboards and they're certainly not notebooks. -
This is basically a full feature tablet for preferably internet browsing, email, and other apps .. hardly a notebook... maybe closer to a netbook, but put a keyboard on an iphone and you can raise that same argument... (maybe with less authority since the screen is so much smaller)

necessary but not sufficient condition for being a notebook is the inherent ability to fold open and closed (as in a traditional paper notebook)
I can put a piece of paper inside of a notebook. That doesn't make the piece of paper a notebook. Similarly, the iPad is not a notebook. Solved.
Next topic: Is peanut butter actually a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? -
We can try to describe the iPad using existing categories, but whether it is between a phone, a tablet, or a notebook is a frivolous discussion. Its just a big iPod Touch, and that basically settles it.
-
I though it would be classed as a slate...?
-
Peanuts are legumes. So it's a vegetable and jelly sandwich.
Ipad is a, to use an old school term, personal digital assistant. -
It's a bigger iPod meant to make the consumption of web based information and entertainment easier while providing a more attractive alternative to netbooks
-
I thought the iPad was the Senior Citizens version of iTouch.......
-
why on earth do people call an ipad an oversized iphone? it is CLEARLY an oversized ipod /pet peeve.
-
No.... this is a slate
-
This is sig worthy
-
If you see the link. It does.
-
Come on, let's not muddy things up by calling a tablet device a "notebook", simply because you can add a keyboard.
When it comes to stretching the definition of "notebook" to include the iPad, then it is not too terribly far a stretch to include this too....
I know what a notebook is, and iPad it ain't. -
It's a nut... that you can play with outside! *waits as no one gets it*
I don't think anyone would call it a notebook, really. -
I agree with senior citizens' itouch.
-
It's a cutting board:

an iPad is a computer.... but its not a notebook.
A Hummer is an automobile, but its not a motorcycle. -

peanuts are legumes, so peanuts by themselves are vegetables AND jelly AND bread, all put together in the form of a sandwich
That's basically what you are saying if you think the iPad is a notebook. -

If i break it in half and then superglue hinges on it is it then a notebook. Or is it just a broken pile of crap? I was just wondering.
Yeah a notebook folds and usually has a keyboard, Unlike a laptop that has a keyboard the doubles as the lid.... hope someone here is old enough to know what a laptop actually is. -
you mean a luggable?

I attempted to find what i had last night and guess it wasnt mass market enough to be remembered. It was similar to the osborne but actually lapable. But yeah after doing research and the modern examples it does appear it was reclasified as just a portable computer.
So isn't IPAD a Notebook?
