How does it compare to the previous unibody 15" then? Similar or significantly better?

The dell studio xps 16 currently has the RGB display and its amazing. The colors look true and the blacks look deep. But sometimes there can be oversaturation of the red but thats only some people who notice this in the RGB displays. But these display's are really amazing and the veiwing angle is pretty much anywhere you can stand

I think the best part about all of this is that the 13" MacBook (Pro) will have an excellent display at along last.

The MacBook Air display was significantly better, it will be great that almost all machines in the lineup have great displays.

What the hell is going to happen to the MacBook line now? Replaced by something else?

I sold my 15" not too long ago in anticipation of picking up a new machine so I can't do a direct comparison. I do have a Dell XPS 1640 and I must say the new MBP is able to hold it's own against the RGB display. The Dell does have a bit more color saturation (and overly exaggerated reds), but the little MBP doesn't look too shabby.

The Iconic whitebook will live on as it's their best selling MAC. Some suspect the possibility of the inevitable MacBook "netbook". Only time will tell, I think if they do release a netbook it have to be before Christmas 09.

Yes it only makes sense for a netbook. Maybe they can revamp the Macbook Air into a Netbook or something.

it would be much nicer to see how it compares to the previous 13" macbook and the 15" macbook pro in terms of vertical viewing angle. after all, the original unibody macbook was fine as is spot on or viewing from the side.

I am very glad to hear the 13" MBP screen is of similar caliber to the Macbook Air. I have been considering switching to Mac since they released the 13" uMB, but didn't think I could make the switch from my VAIO SR to the 13" uMB because of the screen quality.

So do you still believe that the new 15" MBP uses the same display as before?

I saw someone on Macrumors mentioning a new screen, a LP154WP4.

    Congrats.

To be honest I'm not really sure. All I have been told is that its the 13" that has been improved in regards to the Gamut, Other then that I haven't heard or read anything "Internally" that states a newer display for the 15". I just don't know.
