My home network has always been: SSID broadcast off, WAP2 TKIP+AES, MAC filtering and limited DHCP numbers. Yesterday, I connected the 13.3" MBP to the network and initial manual connection was fine. However, if I turn off and turn on AirPort or restart the computer, it doesn't re-connect automatically. The only time it re-connects is when I enable SSID broadcast. Is this the only option for MBPs (i.e., no auto connection to hidden SSID networks)?
Thanks!

Just broadcast your SSID, Why aren't you? (Don't say for security because it gives you little to no security.)

I realize that it doesn't add much, but at least if someone wanted hack into a wireless network in the apartment complex we are living, there are at least 30-40 visible networks available, which would keep him/her busy before exploring hidden ones. By the way, there are some really weird SSID names out there -
But you also need to ask yourself the question- are you REALLY in an area where you're at a high risk of information theft? Would someone really take the time and risk to find your network, at your apartment complex, and hack into it to try to steal your data? (assuming you have any valuable data)

How many of the networks around you are WEP? They will be the first one's to get attacked
most programs used to attack wireless networks will just show the network with a SSID of Hidden, still visible and easy to attack. Having WPA2 and a none dictionary password is your best security.
Here is some actual help (Maybe) Try setting it to just AES not TKIP+AES. I was having problems before when I used that. It wasn't the same as you, but who knows it might work. -
I have set up routers at a number of locations, for myself, my work, my family and friends. None have SSID visible, and I've never had a problem with my Mac reconnecting.
Maybe your Macbook's settings are not such that the computer automatically reconnects, and it has nothing to do with your router. -
Thanks! -
So, I can't connect/re-connect unless the SSID is visible?
