1. Le Nouveau Petit Robert 2008 (French Dictionary)
Just stopped working as soon as I installed Leopard. I'm furious.
Do you have anything else that's stopped working? To whom do we complain???

It sucks that insomniax doesnt work. I dont know what im gonna do now! I guess the legacy version will have to do for now... other than that, everything works great, even the office beta!

this is probably known by anyone who already has it, but since they're both such big investments, here it is again:

Do we complain directly to the software companies?
I've reported the problem with the dictionary to Apple. Would that help at all? I'm really frustrated; this is going to cost me so much time.... -
It's up to Adobe now, not apple.

smcFan Control! Whoa that was a big surprise!
When I installed it, my fans were blowing at 6k RPM (the max), and then it wanted to boost them up to 12k !! Jesus Herald Christ.
But the sliders were not working, and nothing was happening with the fans
-
smcfancontrol works fine for me.
Did you reset it to 2k before uninstalling it before the upgrade?
Did you do a clean install?
Did you install the latest version 2.1? -
smcfancontrol works fine for me as well. Make sure you download the latest version here.

What exactly does a clean install entail? Formatting the hard drive?
Can I leave my documents in the harddrive, and do a clean install nevertheless?
Can a clean install help with some of those compatibility issues? -
Clean install will wipe out your hd completely, it will delete all your files and install leopard, or tiger, the end result will be like when you turned on your new mac for the first time. Yes, clean install will help with some of the compatibility issues.
You can leave your documents in your hd. You have two options:
1) Archive and install. The installer will create a folder with your previous system files and settings, put it aside, and clean install leopard. Once you're done installing, all you have to do is browse the folder and copy what you want to wherever you want.
2) Partition your hd, move over what you want backed up, and then perform a clean install. Or backup to some other media.
If it were me I'd go for option 2, because I would have the separate backup, either on discs, external hd, or another partition, and you never know what could go wrong. -
I thought Photoshop CS3 was okay? I swear I read something from Adobe saying Photoshop CS3 was compatible with Leopard...

Ok, thanks a lot, that was really helpful. One more thing: Does the installer take care of the clean install itself? (Like, for example, do I hit a button during boot-up and it launches 'clean install' as opposed to upgrade) Or do I have to format first.
Who would have known that Leopard would screw up my French reference........those-who-know-better certainly would!
I'll do a clean install, and if the program still doesn't work, I'll go back to Tiger.
Putain! -
I take it back on smcFan Control. It seems I didn't have the latest version, and my fans were blowing on 6k when I installed it after the Leopard clean install.
Works great now, thanks

If you have the DVD, insert it, then go to system preferences, click startup disk, click your mac osx install dvd, and choose restart, after that it's smooth sailing. The installer will boot by itself. You just have to pay attention when you get 'options' at the bottom when you select which partition to install leopard. Choose options, and then you have your choice of upgrade, archive and install, or clean install. After selecting clean install, and choosing a custom install or default install, it will just do it's thing. If it's from a dvd, it shouldn't take more than hour. For me it was only like 20 minutes, but I installed it from another partition (which is faster than dvd) and opted out of printer drivers, since that alone is a hefty 3.4 giggies, I'd rather save space and download the one I need.
Let us know how it goes
Sweetly. no prob! -

I thought I remember reading something as well. Further, a look at Adobe's support page reveals no patches available for download. It would stand to reason that Adobe would have wanted an update out in time for Leopard's release if there were problems with CS3. -
Secret Books does not work. Which sucks, since I just spent a few hours last week inputing all of my username/passwords, license keys, etc... Oh well... I love good old wasted time.

I'd written to Mindscape and Le Robert concerning the failure to run Le Petit Robert 2008 run on Leopard *at all*. They've sent the reply today:
Ce système d’exploitation étant récent, il n’existe pas pour l’instant de mise à jour pour MacOS 10.5.
Les Éditions Le Robert ont été notifiées et travaillent sur un correctif.
La manipulation sera mis à disposition sur le site de Mindscape et du Robert dès disponibilité.
So if there's anyone wondering.... -
It seems that WoW doesn' run either when firewall and parental controls are activated.
Quote:" The game was tested against Leopard, however it was not tested in a fashion that would involve re-configuring the firewall or the parental controls, both of which are Leopard features that (we have learned) can alter the contents of the game files in a way that defeats our existing integrity checking mechanisms."

Photoshop CS3 works perfectly, no problems at all. same with all CS3 software, Adobe has mentioned not all of it has been completely updated but that doesn't mean it doesn't work at all.
I know that it works just fine because I have been using it everyday. -
No one mentioned ShapeShifter and Application Enhancer. These should be uninstalled when Upgrading to Leopard otherwise you're likely to encounter problems. I think the Logitech Control Center also installs Application Enhancer so beware.
Mac OS X 10.5: "Blue screen" appears after installing Leopard and restarting
Also, Popcorn 3 is not currently compatible. It will not launch. However, Roxio has already released a beta (Popcorn v3.0.2b7) that works in Leopard. Toast 8 does work in Leopard though. -
My new copy of Parallels 3.0 won't launch after a fresh install. Just dumps core and craps out.
Software no longer working under Leopard
