    1) - not sure. But you can check your comp specs by going to the apple logo on the top left of the screen and choosing about this mac and then choosing more info

    2) Speed download Lite is my best preferred one although you have to pay for it. Worth Every penny. check on youtube for reviews of this app

    3) UnrarX - Free - best feature is that when you have split rar files all you have to do is drag one of the split files into UnrarX and it will join them for you and unlike in windows you do not need a seperate software to join files like join32.exe

    4) Antivirus is not necessary but then again if you want to be extra safe I'd recommend iAntivirus - Free. Absolutely a brilliant app and does not burden the comp that much. You'll barely ever notice it running in the background.

    5) CleanMyMac - just one click pretty much cleans up everything. you need to pay for it though or try Onyx

why use rar files? unrarx will take care of those... but your better off using 7z on every platform, much better... "7zX.app" takes care of those well.

    1. Second the above recommendations.

    2. I haven't used one in years, so I have no idea.

    3. I use Rar Expander.

    4. Not needed most of the time, but you could try ClamXAV.

    5. All I really do is use Onyx's maintenance functions.

    Thanks for the comment.

I need someone advise in this. Can i know what would happen if I download an exe. file that only support windows and i try to install it. Will it corrupt my os? because some website do not list if they support mac os x. It's kinda confusing to know if they support mac os x.

You cant corrupt a mac install by installing an exe.

Some windows programs you can get running using wine, or in a virtual machine. But if a program isn't made for osx, there are usually alternatives or you'll be out of luck.

But no you wont break your install, if anything you just wont be able to use the program.

only DOS and Windows use .exe files directly... by default OSX wouldn't know what a .exe is unless you installed some app that can use them.

I've never used UnRarX before. I personally use The Unarchiver, which can handle RAR files along with a lot of other compression formats:
