I've bought a few Vaja cases for my iPods over the years despite the high cost, but the one time I tried to save $$ by going with a knock-off ("Just like Vaja, only cheaper!" - can't remember the brand, tho) I was really disappointed: stitching was lousy, the case was lop-sided so the iPod wouldn't fit right, the leather was thin and not well tanned etc. Since then I've turned to the totally mass-produced stuff from people like Griffin and inCase; at least you can look it over in the store before buying and the value is there - it's no Vaja, but it is honestly what it claims to be, which the knock-off wasn't.

Xirung, what type of case are you looking for, sleeve, backpack, messenger, and for what piece(s) of equipment. MB, MBP 15" 17", iPod etc. Also what kind of cash are you thinking of.

Vaja make amazing cases from what I've heard but I can foresee a problem possibly even bigger than the terrifying prices. That is heat, especially on Apple products. Simply put Apple have serious heat issues on almost all their laptops. Making them skinny has meant they go with aluminium to turn them into giant heatsinks to disperse that heat from every point of the casing open to the outside world. Putting an Apple laptop into a leather heat shield would seem to defeat that point. I'd consider one of these things on a Sony but never an Apple. Thermal stress central. Run it heavy in this heat bag and I can see early failure of the laptop.

Have you considered just using a sleeve. Crumpler make great leather ones and if you shop around you can pick them up for half the MSRP. This ones for the 13" unibody.

Sorry I can't be more helpful. I'd love one of these Vaja cases on a Vaio P (which may be the next purchase) but at $300 like you said no chance.
