So I was calibrating my battery and i was letting it drain all the way down so it would go in sleep mode. It got to like 3% and a popup came up saying something about sleep mode. I x'ed out and waited like 15 more minutes to get down all the way so it would fall into sleep mode. I waited and waited and finally when it hit 0 it just shut down automatically without me touching it or it going into sleep mode. Did i do something wrong and potentially mess up my battery? Thanks.

To put you mac to sleep just close the lid. What you have done is run the battery down so far that the mac takes the precaution of shutting down the laptop, as there isn't even enough power to safely enter sleep mode without the possibility of data loss.
It is unlikely that you have damaged your laptop, and my views on battery calibration are that if your not experiencing issues then don't bother creating ones.... just enjoy the fact that your laptop is perfect for the moment!

same thing happens to me after i got my first mac.I also ignore the sleep massage & MBP went to sleep without notifying me. I think it's just a setting massage.Software can't damage battery ,so you'll be fine. Make sure to let you battery charge couple of times (drain it all the way & charge )

does the mac turn off or went to sleep? does the light at the front pulsate or not?

funny thing though.. my mbp still not going to sleep below 3 percent; i shut it down; then it wouldnt want to boot up again, until i recharge the battery. if i remeber correctly my macbook; would put itself automatically to sleep at 3 percent... anyone can confirm?
