Okay, so I know this thread will die in probably 30 minutes, so any moderators, feel free to delete this once the store is back-up, but I couldn't resist making a fuss over The Apple Store being down!.

Any ideas?

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
They're installing the updates for the Black Friday sale.
Apple always pulls down the site when they're doing major sale or pricing changes (i.e. launch of new Ipods, Macbooks, etc).
It'll probably go back up at 12am EST. -
It works for me. Nothing new that I can see.

The U.S.
It is only 6:15 here, if you are the UK it is probably close to midnight. Black Friday comes to you sooner than me. -
Yeah, it's for the Black Friday sales. The news has been all over Apple's UK website the past week.
-
it's there now http://store.apple.com/uk
nothing on the macboook pro's though -
I was really hoping there'd be a discount on the MBP.
Will offers be same in all regions (I live in Eastern US)?

These discounts are on par with the AUS site. Pretty disappointing if you ask me. I would think that with the state of the worldwide economy the discounts would be better. I can get these same prices with my student discount. Unfortunately this is not discounted enough to make me buy. I was holding off to see what would come up but it looks like I will be buying a Dell.

Hey Izoid, try Macmall.com. They have some really good deals on MB's and MBP's and they come with Parrallels, a notebook bag, and a couple other things for a lot cheaper.
-
I saw MacMall. Looked good until I saw that the price is after rebate. The rebates are between 100 and 200 bucks. I am currently fighting to get 2 rebated from other promotions so I don't put a lot of stock on getting them.
-
Apple's Black Friday sales are never amazing, but they don't hurt to have. They're not going to make anyone go wow, but if you've been waiting for the past few weeks, Black Friday is as low as it gets
.
-
It's after midnight here on the East Coast and no reductions yet on the MB/MBP.
-
-
Man you apple, you spoiled .
I might just print out a pic of MacMall's page for the Macbook Pro and take it to the Apple Store to get it price matched.

MacMall's prices are all AFTER rebate and fairly large ones ot that. I am currently going on 4 months waiting for a $150 rebate for a security system and for my free Nintendo Wii from my cable company. I get nothing but the run around. Maybe MacMall is better but I put little stock in rebates anymore.
-
Hmmm you may never get your rebate...

Have we really come this far in society to just assume that on Black Friday, every retailer in the world is going to offer half off on all products?
Everything that is a major deal at the stores is in limited supply, where you had to be there at 5am to beat the horde of middle aged women who are willing to trample employees to death, just to grab the one of five of that item in stock for the sale. Everything else is just a small sale, usually 5-10% off, and usually only on items that aren't selling particularly well.
You can always try eBay.
Oh, and just remember, unless you live in a tax free state, you'll pay more at Apple than you would from MacMall. -

In a bad, slow, economy merchants are forced to lower prices in order to sell their products. Business operates on a supply and demand principle. When demand decreases prices must decrease to stimulate sales. When supply decreases with a high demand prices rise.
Use the current gasoline situation. Demand was high, supply was low and it cost $4 per gallon. Now that supply is high and demand is lower we pay $1.75 per gallon.
