If I press down on the front left corner of the palm rest, there's some pretty loud squeaking/creaking going on. This MBP is about 1 1/2 months old...is this normal?

Something is probably loose. If you are still under warranty (and it sounds like you are), why not head to an Apple store and have them take a look at it?

One of the nice things about Apple is their customer service.

If you don't live near a store, perhaps a phone call would help determine what your options are.

Any kind of creaking doesn't inspire confidence--I would have it looked at.
