    Not a surprise :p.

Macworld 2008...can't wait! Hoping for some new Macs...tablet/ultraportable.

Probably no iPhone news, other than the SDK. iPhone 2 probably won't happen until later in the year.

Yea....This pretty much confirms something new is coming out.
Should i wait until the keynote to purchase a new computer system?
Currently, i do not own a computer and i wish to switch to the darkside..haha

Will the upgrade be worth the wait?..Or should i get one now?...I was thinking about a MBP, but i would be satisfied with a MB as well.

Yeah, I'd say you should wait. Its too close to Macworld to buy anything now...unless you really need it before then.

The MBP might be updated then, but don't expect the MacBook to. The MacBook was last updated just earlier in November, so don't expect any MacBook updates.

I would not expect any computers to be updated at MacWorld. I think the only thing related to systems may be an ultraportable, otherwise it is likely to be centered on iPhone, iPod, and maybe AppleTV.

MBP badly needs an update. Its still beautiful, but in a dated sort of way...The same exact design is now 5 years old, and even that is an evolved form of a 9 year old design from 1999 or 2000.

I heard that all of the previous mbp updates were made at the developers conferences, and not at macworld.

Is that right, or did I heard wrong. Kinda makes sense, as the mbp is suited more for professionals/devs.

And vivek I still think that the mbp is one of the nicest looking laptops out there, so why mess with a good thing ;p

Agreed, but I personally I do not like the design.

I don't remember any of the updates being at WDC....The original intro was at MacWorld 06, the Merom and Santa Rosa updates were just put onto the website, and thats all of them, methinks.

Wow....bad taste much? The MBP is a very nice looking notebook, but IMO, the black MacBook looks better.

    Yes, that sounds better :p

It would be sooo kickass if the MBP went to black aluminum....dang.... :p

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the silver. I thought the white MB looked better.

I'm with Ly on the white Macbook thing. After seeing all of them in person, I personally prefer the white Macbook of all of them. It just looks much cleaner and minimalist than the others.

By the way Ly, have you gotten around to installing Linux on the Macbook?

Nah, until this afternoon, I only have the standard 80GB harddrive, and with OS X taking up 10 of that by default, and Win XP on there, its a little tight. When I get my 160, then I'll do it.

If you guys look back at system updates, very few have been announced at keynotes. Honestly, it would not surprise me if there are no major announcements at all, a la 2002 when they just talked about the megahertz myth. If there are any announcements, it is highly unlikely it will include any new system, there is no evidence to support it save for the ultraportable.

damn it should i get a mbp now?? the reason why i'm tempted is because i got someone visiting me during christmas holiday that can buy it at their country for much cheaper. however i dont really NEED it but i do want to "switch" over the holiday and be able to use it efficiently for the next term

Id have to agree, it unlikely that there will be much, the best bet is the infamous ultra portable mbp. I am also dreaming for the mac middle! The mac for those that dont need the macpro or want an all in one imac, but still need more than the mini can provide. This dream mac would be a)cheap & b)easily upgradeable with standard desktop parts (ie hdd, ram). I doubt this will ever happen, but one can dream. It could be pitched as apples answer to the PC home server market... hint hint apple
    a
    :)

ps I highly doubt this will happen, but the mac mini does need an upgrade so that might be another possibility for the keynote?

Yes! I'd love a Mac desktop tower. The iMacs are nice, but sometimes I just don't want an all-in-one, and the Mac Pro is too expensive and too powerful. Mac desktop tower please, Apple! :p
