I was running Team Fortress 2 via Bootcamp on my unibody Macbook, 2.4GHz. I just noticed when I ran Windows Task Manager that the game was only using one core of the CPU. Take a look:

What should I do?
When I minimize TF2 the cores level off:

Is your Windows up to date?
I remember installing some kind of core optimization thing from Dead Space's DVD. I'm sure it's on Windows Update as well.
Maybe that'll enable the second core? -
Do all Mac games play in a window like that or is there an option to put it in full screen, you know, without seeing any titles or whatnot, like how a dvd would play in full screen? (just in case you aren't sure what I'm talking about
)

It's normal for games to only use one core on computers. When I play WoW, only one core is used in Boot Camp, and the same goes for when I'm on my desktop. Nothing is wrong with your system.

I thought TF2 was supposed to be multi-threaded.
-
I did some hunting on google for multi-threading on TF2 and found this:
http://forums.wireplay.co.uk/showthread.php?t=318146
It add's about 20 frames/second in framerates, but at the cost of some instability on some machines.
Apologies on what I said earlier, I didn't know TF2 was multi-threaded. -

second, tf2 is not a mac game. he is running it in windows. its a windows game.
third, to get it in the window, he had to set the game to run in a window (in windows!). by default, the game runs fullscreen. -
Thanks for the link @ the other poster. I'll check it out. -
yeah, i am having terrible experience with TF2 in the new macbook pro under bootcamp in vista
i get good frame rates but the game still looks choppy, i think its probably he sound driver, cause it usually happens when the shooting starts.
what res/quality are you guys running on? and what frame rates are you getting.
i am running on 1280 x 800 with everything on medium, and still have this problem
even counter-strike (not source) does not run smooth -
First of all, TF2 does NOT officially support multithreading. You can enable it by typing in 'mat_queue_mode 2' into the console, but it's quite instable and causes a lot of crashes. Hence it's disabled by default.
I'm getting pretty good fps with my MBP actually. Usually around 35 - 55 fps on a 24 person server. -

i never had framerate problems with tf2 (unless running in crossover!). im going to have to go back and check now. maybe something semi-recent messed it up?

i am even having choppy frames in warcraft 3 under bootcamp, it seems to be the sound driver, cause it improves a lot with the sound disabled..
any ideas? i tried looking for a driver online, and couldnt go in the realtek website
TF2 in bootcamp only uses 1 core of CPU
