I'll post my next review comparison in 15 years comparing the 17" Macbook Pro to .....????
-
-
I call BS and that the test was rigged! a pro can't be better then power!
More power baby! -
I agree with passive101. I hate it when someone who are obviously biased posts a review like this. Surely you jest!
-
can u do a superpi test
-
-
Surely at the very least is shows that Apples quality used to be extremely high. I would be pretty suprised if my Macbook Pro worked 15+ years from now.

Wow. The days before they had touchpads...
I kind of feel sorry for the Powerbook -
Man, I haven't seen one of those in a long time. My cousin had one of those. We had a lot of fun with it.
I still think it would kill the MBP in wPrime though... -
FINALLY! I've been waiting for a review like that for ages! I've been struggling on deciding whether to upgrade to a Powerbook or MBP for the past year! Thx for clearing that up! This should be stickied and put on the front page of NBR! We need more reviews like this.

and just look at the color res on the powerbook! lol, makes me want to dig some of my familys old computers out and play with them again
-
I wish my MacBook was as fast as that CPU! A whole 33 MHz!!

I think the test is rigged, too. The display on the Powerbook would be super vibrant if you dusted it!

What an unprofessional comparison! You haven't asked the following questions:
1. Is the screen in Powerbook wobbly?
2. Shall I wait for MBP Penryn or buy Powerbook today?
3. Is powerbook screen glossy or matte? Does it have a 'yellow' issue?
4. How many USB/DVI ports are in Powerbook and does it have 'n' wireless
because I don't know if it will work on my latest 'n' router!?
Next time put more effort in your posts as they are useless!
And what is that on the MBP's screen? MacOS 6?
Great post, anyway! -
darn i wish i still had a powerbook....
those screens were the best.... -
And of course, you didn't note that the Powerbook's Apple logo doesn't light up! I mean, that's so unprofessional! That is one thing I think the MBP is better than the Powerbook, the lit-up Apple logo, and you fail to mention it! Such bias!
-
2. Buy the powerbook today- the price has dropped about $4,475, first revisions are typically a bad idea anyways.
3. Matte, and no yellowing unlike the 17 LED Backlit MBPs I tested.
4. 0 USB, and Wireless N could be installed by soldering, however would probably be unusable because of the OS.
However what the Powerbook lacks in a single light up logo, it makes up for with (2) small colorful Apple logos on the chassis -
Well...the powerbook has at least one thing going for it. Being almost 16 years old means it already went through puberty.
I'm dreading when my high-maintenance, glamor-girl MBP goes through the "awkward stages".
*sigh*
Kids these days. Don't build'em like they used to.
The Apple Powerbook 180 vs. 17" Macbook Pro!!! The review everyones been waiting for!!
