What site has the new Macbook Aluminum for the cheapest right now? Are there any deals or anything out? I really dont wanna shell out more then $1000 for a laptop. And i know if i wanna go with Apple im going to have to but im still going to try and find the best deal out there. Someone on here was telling me theres this thing i can do with Microsoft and Apple or something where they send u 30% of the money back 60 days after you buy your notebook or something? Does anyone have more info on that? Or are there any other ways? Thanks!!!

Apple has reseller agreements with all retailers that stock their product, severely limiting any discounts they can pull below MSRP.

The aluminum MB is not going to see any discounts at all for the forseeable future - your best best would be to wait a while and see when a refurb MB comes up on Apple's site, which generally has a 20% drop, i.e. the $1299 model will likely be $1099.

A $1000 budget for a current, new Mac notebook is unrealistic, even with student or EPP discounts - sorry.

Over time Apple doesn't really lower prices much, they just usually update the parts and keep them at the same price.

They decreased student discounts, but they didn't increase prices.

What they did is updated the low end Macbook and dropped the price on it. They redesigned the mid and high end Macbooks and kept the prices the same. The MacBook Pro also stayed the same price. The MacBook Air actually decreased in price a little with the SSD.

Well currently, you can go to live.com search for something like "cheap wii" and you will see a 30% off ebay advertisement. You can then purchase any buy it now auction using paypal. You will then receive an email with info about how to link this purchase to a live.com account (free). After 60 days, you can start the process of receiving a reimbursement of 30% to your paypal account. It takes about 2 weeks after the 60 days before you finally get the payment.

I got AppleCare this way (although at the time, the paypal rebate was only 20%)

Apple rarely changes its prices, as in, unlike Dell where prices are constantly changing. So rarely will you see any real price differences from different resellers. Future Shop in Canada and Best Buy do occasionally have $50, 100 off the MacBooks and MBPs, so that'll be the best sale most of the time. Otherwise, I'd say just stick with buying from Apple!

The worst part about the new MacBooks is that educational pricing has been crippled from the usual $100 off to just $50 off (CDN) for the entry MacBook :(

...so why is Apple spouting about its academic rise in popularity when most students won't be able to afford their most popular laptop? Well, most students who don't attend the Ivy Leagues.

Yah man, they made a few mistakes with these releases. The older Macbook should now be $899, the new Macbook basic Macbook should be $1199 with $100 student discount And include the **** backlit keyboard. The rest of the laptops should be priced $200-300 less aswell!!!

Well it's something that has always worked for me to bring up the ebay link. You can type in whatever into the search bar but sometimes the ebay link doesn't show up. You are not constrained to buy what you searched for. It's probably going to take a week or two before you see a whole lot of the new Macbooks on Ebay though.

Well the $400 (-$100 for the membership) off the MBP through student ADC is still good. Although for Macbooks the discount is only $150 making it on par with the educational store -$50 discount.

first off, the old macbooks got no updates at all, however, the cost on macbooks went to 1300$ and 1600 when it was i think 1200 and 1400?(i dont really count the old one being available still), macbook pro's are the same price, but less with student discount, but they also all use gddr3 ram now, which triples the cost of ram upgrades...also, new macbooks have lower capacity batteries and crappy screens...

No, the new MacBooks have better screens now, from all first-hand accounts I've heard. The LED-backlighting will definitely help.

As far as I remember, the prices have always been $1099, $1299 and $1499. So the low-end MacBook got $100 cheaper and I think the new MacBooks keep the same price, with the higher end being bumped up a bit more.

Again, I think this is Apple trying to cover more territory with the MacBook now. What used to be their "consumer line", they're trying to still appeal to consumers by having the $999 and $1299 model, but also cover for professionals wanting a nicely designed, lightweight Mac notebook at 13.3-inches without the weaker specs of the MacBook Air.

Umm better design, thinner and less weight, faster processor, LED Screen, a way better graphics card, 1GB more Ram, new and improved touchpad, 60GB more hardrive space, and overall everythings been improved and updated all for the same price of $1300. Are you on crack or something LOL? Do your research first homie!!!

You don't get points in my book for being lighter if you use a smaller battery (now only 45 Wh). Anyone can do that. I think the new macbook has worse battery life than the old plastic one, and certainly it must have worse battery life compared to the plastic penryn macbooks, which have the same chips plus a bigger battery. I am not sure that the Nvidia graphics chip 9400m sips juice less than the integrated intel chip. So if it's about battery life, I can't imagine the new aluminum macbook making any progress. I would be shocked if it even stayed the same as the last generation's.

The LED screen is without question better than the plastic macbook's, no doubt. I saw it tonight. But it's worse than the macbook air's. I saw 10 laptops on display and the conclusion was the same. The macbook pro's display, however, was absolutely gorgeous. Tonight made me appreciate the macbook air more. That thing looks pretty unibody to me, and wasn't it released a year ago?

Price fixing in Australia is illegal - a lot of car yards got fined for it. But Apple kept getting away with price fixing.

(Ok, shipping to India wasn't free :D and I owe a beer (or more) to the friend who's carrying it here ..still, I guess 1269 and a beer is a decent price compared to the how ridiculously overpriced it is here)

It's also great if you have a friend who's still in college, and just wait a couple month until the school bookstore goes on sale, and macbooks can be bought for a very nice price. With educational discount and school discount.
