Well there are lots of threads about what people want in the MBA or MBP for the upcoming revision, but none about the macbook. I am one of those people who want a MB and are on the verge of buying one if a solid revision of the notebook came. This thread is just to pool all the wants, needs, tidbits and rumours of what is to be the next Macbook. Please make suggestions reasonable.

    Ill start

    Aluminum Casing
    Montevina CPU
    Custom Chipset
    DDR3 Ram
    New Keyboard
    MultiTouch?

Cant think of anymore really. I know something fantastic is going to happen but i really dont think it will involve the Macbook.

How can a x86 processor run on a PPC chipset? And what is a Vu chipset?

That sounds like the macbook pro in a 13" form :)

    Anyways... what I want...

    - Keep the plastic case as long as it doesn't crack like everyones does
    - Stronger hinges
    - AMD / ATI integrated (the integrated 3200 is faster than a 8400gs 0_0 )

I think the days of the MacBook line are numbered, now that the MBA has hit the streets and has received a very warm welcome. Apple might update the MBA so it has the above, and drop the MacBook line.

I'd like to see piano-black-aluminum casing on the MBP. That would be wicked.

The Macbook Air reception was by no means welcome... but I do agree that the MacBook design needs a revamp.

Apple was quoted to say "deliver products at prices that competitors can't match." Me thinks they will drop the prices. By how much remains yet to be seen.

I'd like an aluminum shell with a redesign as well. Maybe a miniaturized version of the MacBook Pro...but I guess that's the MacBook Air. I'd like options for dedicated graphics, even if its an 8400M GS or similar, and a multitouch trackpad and of course, LED-backlit display.

^^ I don't think the cooling system of the MacBook would be able to deal with a dedicated GPU... it would explain why they've been stuck with Intel graphics.

If they could throw a decent GPU into the MacBook, though, I would actually consider buying one in the future.

Mhm, the notebooks get quite hot already without it. I do hope Apple fixes it somehow.

From what I've been reading at macrumors, that seems to sum up just about what everyone wants in a revision. :D

Superdrive on the baseline Macbook should be priority 1.

The only thing I want is a SuperDrive, lower price for the black book, thinner (i.e. 1inch like the MBP) and any -400 dedicated card option. Hmm. Even the ATI 3200IGP would do. :D
