I'm unsure of how this program works. I did not purchase .mac but I'm using the 60 day free trial. I have no intent to purchase this when the trial expires. My question is: How can I sync up the mail program with my other email accounts? I have an email account my college assigned me and I also have a gmail account for personal use. How can I sync both of these up with Mail and then switch between them?

    Thanks in advance.

Yeah, it definitely seems like a nice little program and I'd like to be able to just open it up and check my various email accounts.

It depends. You need an email service that supports POP-3 or IMAP. Gmail has POP-3. Not sure about your college.

For POP though, it just forwards your mail to your Mac, you can't sync it.

Does Gmail support IMAP? What about this exchange option that they show, and how would I go about finding out which service my college has? Also, how can I choose which account I want to use, how do I switch between them basically?

Gmail only has POP3, not IMAP. For your college, I guess the only way is to ask. Because you need certain info to set up the connection between Mail and the server. Also I believe that in Mail you can accept mail from multiple email addresses.

Does anyone know if Microsoft Outlook and Yahoo would work? I ordered my MBP a few days ago, but didn't buy .mac along with it because I wasn't sure if I'd use it. I didn't know there was a 60 day free trial so I guess I'll try that out when she arrives :)

It is my understanding (via a clerk at an Apple store) that web-based mail such as Hotmail will not work on the Mail program that is part of the Mac system. I have mine setup on Entourage (Outlook equivalent) or just access it through Firefox.

As long as your provider has POP-3 or IMAP, it will work with Mail.app, Outlook, Entourage etc.
