    Dear all

Has anyone found a cure for the 1 sec or 1.5 sec delay that needs to take place after you use tap to dray in order to disengage the cursor from the window that is moving in the macbook pro.

    best regards

I've had my MBP 17 for about 3 days and I am seeing that same delay you're talking about. Incredibly annoying. I'm new to Mac OSX and for every cool thing I see there is another that is a huge step backwards from Windows.

Believe me I am a computer engineer and I am about also to finish my PhD. I bought lots and lots of laptops. If I tell you how many you won't believe me. Most of them were PCs. I got a few MBPros too. Telling you the truth there are somethings good in Win OS and somethings good in MAC OS.

Take your time with your computer and believe you me once you go MAC it is hard to go back and now you can do a lot of Windows stuff there too with more stability and more speed (In my own opinion). Don't let go of your MAC it will amaze you. Also there is lion OS around the corner that carries some good stuff. Wait and please tell me about your experience.

I never knew anyone used tap to drag... so much easier to just click and drag with a second finger for me.

I did turn it on and play with it... I think its just a small timer to know your really done dragging... you can always turn on drag lock so you can tap again when done and it releases it.

I find it so much easier to just pretend the bottom part of the touchpad is a button... push and click it down with one finger, and move a second finger around to move things.

You can also tap again to release the drag if you enable the tap tp drag option.
I think it would have been more convenient not to have this timer though. This will differentiate between the drag lock and the normal tap to drag.

I understand what you are saying. It is just a learning challenge at this point.

I cannot find another laptop that comes close to the build quality of my MBP so I am probably going to keep it. :)

Not sure what you mean by things about OS X that are huge steps backwards from Windows, but anyways, Lion should address a lot of your concerns if you're just moving away from Windows to OS X. The new drag lock feature is much better. You just use 3 fingers to drag-lock and it disengages instantly when you let go. I guess that was really to the OP but you said you had the same concern.
