I am going to be buying a 13.3" Macbook Pro this weekend and wanted to know what I should check for just incase I have to return it.
So far all I know to check the specs of the machine and it is what I actually paid for.
Anything else?
Thanks!

1)part of your post is totally irrelevant to the topic
2)most of what you think is not true
3)There is no suck thing as "old stock mbp 13" since it is only 2 month old.
4)you sig is too long -
Whenever I buy a Mac at a brick & mortar store I ask before purchasing if I will be able to plug it in on premises to check for any problems; I have yet to be told "no," and if I was I'd immediately go to a different store.
Look for the obvious: stuck pixels or other screen issues, network connectivity, odd noises, bad fit or finish, excessive heat. Any of these is VERY rare with a Mac, but it's a lot easier to convince a dealer you have a problem out of the box if you boot up for the first time right in front of him/her. If you want to be extra thorough bring a set of earbuds and a USB thumb drive and check your headphone and USB ports before leaving for home as well. Once there load your software and "burn in" the machine for 24 hours - meaning find a game or program which really exercises the hard drive, CPU, graphics, etc. (repeatedly playing a DVD movie is a good choice - anything that gets the fans spinning) then turn sleep off and let her run. If nothing breaks in the first 12-24 hours chances are you'll have a trouble-free system for years to come. Good luck! -
Didn't buy a mac because it would look good in coffee shops. I bought it solely for OS X. (the good looks are just a plus)
