Thinking (well, in process) of selling all my unused desktops and laptops and selling them, to raise the funds for a MacBook Pro 2.4 unibody one, with a Apple LED 24" Cinema display, a mStand Macbook holder, a Apple Wireless Keyboard, wireless mighty mouse.... and a Drobo External BeyondRaid storage solution....
Costed it out to about £2284
Any ideas, changes, or tips to give?

Ditch the mighty mouse. There not that good.
-
I'd ditch the wireless mouse and they keyboard as well. The Logitech S530 wireless keyboard and mouse is much better in my opinion. Its what I use with my iMac.
-
Yea, not many people like the mightymouse. The keyboard though is a decent keyboard, although if you want a numberpad/full size keyboard youll have to get a wired version.
-
Might just kick the wireless to the curb and get the wired ones...
Also i know theres better keyboards and mice out there.... but i think it would ruin the asthetics -

sounds like a sick setup. the macbook alone is sweet but to pair it with that high resolution led display. drooooool. only thing is you never get what you think you will for a used laptop. especially on ebay where many types of laptops are just totally saturated. it just makes you wanna cry.

Oh dont worry... I'm buying it at a brick and mortar store everything apart from the Drobo which i'll have to order online.....
thankfully i work in a pc specialist store that has a apple retail section with someone employed by apple... (which means any issues i can just return to store and exchange myself instead of having to worry about getting them repaired etc) plus theres a handy 10% discount... -
I'm considering a setup like that...swapping my Feb 08 MBPRO for the unibody and the LED...went to apple store to mess with that setup and they had exactly that..the stand, LED, MBPRO, etc.
-
Yea..... the only bit i feel alittle sad is at the apple tax... (aka a extra 700 over a similar spec machine)
And to be honest i saw this setup here and imidatly fell in love with it.... -
I'd recommend the apple key board wireless or wired, I love the keys your fingers just slid over them so nice, makes it faster to type, it's also better if you will be switching from the MB keyboard to the Apple one. I hate using my parents key board now because it feels so big, bulky and slow. -
Lol, yea build quality im not so sure.... But you can't deny their resell value..

I agree about the Apple Keyboard, its great! Also agree with the Mighty Mouse...not so great
.
The 24-inch Apple LED Cinema Display is beautiful. I wish I could afford that! -

I have both the keyboard and the mouse; the keyboard's pretty decent, I personally love it, and it works well for me, and the mouse is.. well you can pretty much figure it out from everyone else's comments, it's not the greatest.

Mighty Mouse is awful. I bought one because (again) I wanted it to match. And the scroll ball just went out of commission after a couple of weeks. I tried all the cleaning techniques I found on youtube and what-not, none of them worked. So that was that.
Now I have the wired keyboard (which I love) from Apple and the Razer Pro|Click mobile bluetooth mouse (the only one in the Apple store which didn't lag).
They didn't have the white one, but I'm sure I'll find one in a store to really match. -
For the drobo I can say a big YES !
I got one a few months back and so far its been great
I did a small review here, if your interested.
Thumbs down on the might mouse too. I find it really uncomfortable to use, thus I still have my 5+ year old MS bluetooth mouse which works great with my mb.
But I do love the keyboard.

Heh yea nice. I agree its a fairly expensive option to buy upfront. But its ability to hotswap out HDD for a larger capacity will save me money over time.....
The only downside i see, is if the Drobo itself fails, i'll have to buy a new one (or at least get it repaired) because the drives wont work in anything else....
*shrugs* -
With any luck the price of the drobo will come down in the next few years so if it fails the upgrade won't be so painful.
Good luck
