Honestly I have never owned a macbook or know much about them, but i do know that they last much longer than PCs and thats my main drive into getting one. So i have a couple questions. Would this Mac be good for school, I am going into college and i need a reliable computer. Also I will playing some games like warcraft 3, will it run that game smoothly. Will it be easy for me to convert form a PC to a Mac? Also will there be a microsoft office on the Mac. And anything else i should know, keep in mind i basically know nothing about them, just trying to see if i really want one.

Yes, there's office for mac (Office 2008).
Yes, they hold value longer than Windows PCs, if that's what you were asking.
Regarding the Warcraft 3 question: depends on which model of the MBP you're getting; the low end 15" and the 13" do not have a dedicated card.
If you don't have an intensive knowledge of Windows software it should be a breeze going from PC to Mac. For me, 7 years of muscle memory of pressing Ctrl+C for copy and Ctrl+V for paste is hard to shake off, just to point out an example.

You should try out the Macs at a store (like Apple Store). If you do not like Macs, then you know. There are some games for OSX, but the library is much smaller than for Windows. You could install games on a Mac via Bootcamp (Windows) but YMMV.

Macs are good for school, but typical PCs can last pretty long as well depending upon the brand and model. It usually comes down a lot to personal preference on which OS you prefer.

I had a Dell E1505 running Windows XP for the first 3 years of college and it worked alright, like a laptop should. Switched to a MacBook (Aluminum baseline model) back in April and have noticed the operating system seems alot more stable. I am not as worried about it freezing up or errors happening. I haven't had to trouble shoot yet and I think I have only had to, in windows terms Control + Alt + Delete once. So I see the system as alot more stable and in my case I have the peace of mind because of it. With that said, I have only had this computer three months...

As far as games, I have VMWare Fusion and have imported my old Dell into my MacBook using that. Through my college I bought Microsoft Word 2008 (Mac version) for $15 I think (colleges have great software discounts!) and now I really don't use Windows much anymore now that I am used to OSX.

I would note that if you want to game in Windows, use boot camp to dual boot. If you are set on using Fusion or Parallels to play games get extra RAM. OSX likes to use atleast a gig on my computer of RAM in day to day operations so running OSX and then Windows in Parallels normally maxes my 2GB of RAM out without playing a game...

You copied everything? Including Windows? (if so, how do you do this?)

You dont need to worry about WC3, even the crappiest integrated GFX card could play that game. I have the 2.66 MBP and I dont even bother switching over to the 9600M GT to play WC3 because it does need any power at all. Your 9400M will be MORE THAN ENOUGH.

Yeah, here is a video on VMWare's website on how to import your operating system and everything. I did a clean install on my Dell cause I didn't want to eat up too much of my MacBook's hard drive and then I imported the clean Windows XP.

Don't bother. A Macbook Pro is so awesome it will blow your mind. You couldn't possibly handle it's awsomeness. It's not for people like you anyway. Please don't pollute the brand by buying one :(

Get one, go on I dare ya! I did today and they're brill! It runs Windows really well. Love mine, sleek and what an excellent build quality, hardly no flex in any part of its case, better than any other laptop I've seen before... apart from Dells pro range for business and the panasonic toughbook.

I'm a recent convert, coming from PCs. Got it for the purpose of school as well. Works like a charm. Took a little bit to learn how to do things the Mac way but it's pretty slick.

It's unlikely given Apples trend in design.

Although, I wouldn't let the color itself sway your decision. The MBPs are very slick and good looking.

I like the Macbook Pro, but I always have a windows machine as well just in case I need to run a windows program. nice to have both if you can.
