    hey

Feel free to laugh at this problem but here it is.
I cant keep my macbook keeping the correct time. It always goes back 7 hours so I believe the problem is somewhere in my settings. I selected the right Timezone (mountain time). And have click the lock so it says it wont change again. It happens after a shutdown then I reboot it back up.

It gets annoying because the location changes and am left without wireless internet.

    Thanks

I forgot to mention that the windows side keeps the time without a problem.

Mind sharing with the group how you did it so we can refer others to this thread in case they have the same problem?

I believe this issue is related to boot camp. I have the same problem myself, but I don't know if it's happening in the same way as this user. I'd love to see the solution too!

Works great for me! It just runs a scrip every time you boot OS X that resyncs time with the Apple server.

I've seen that method that cashmonee referenced, but it won't work if you cannot get an internet connection.

Are there any workarounds for "offline-only" instances?

There is a registry hack for Windows that also fixes it, but I am not sure how reliable it is and what effect it has on the system.

I'm very comfortable in the registry, so I did some digging and found the reg key that needed to be edited.

I'll give you my version of the warning everybody puts up when messing around with the Windows registry; if you're comfortable with changing the registry, know how to back up and recovery the registry, know how to recover Windows from a failed boot, etc., then you're fine. If you've had very little experience with the registry and aren't comfortable, DON'T DO IT. In all reality, though, this particular registry key isn't going to mess your system up. But still, be careful!

For those who know what they're doing in the Windows registry, you need to create a DWORD key called RealTimeIsUniversal in the following location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation\. The DWORD needs to have a value of 1.

I tested this on my own MBP running Leopard with a boot camp partition running Vista. My notebook is currently not connected to any network (wired or wireless), and I have rebooted the notebook about 5 times from Windows to Mac and vice-versa. I'm happy to say that it works!

I found the original post with the solution at http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2378251#2378251.

...well I thought the regedit worked after quite a bit of testing, but this morning (with the MBP without an internet connection) it reverted back to GMT time on the Vista side. Guess I'll just have to wait for some update to fix this.
