Here I was, loving my Aluminium MacBook, and now my screen is on the fritz. Maybe I was loving it too hard. On the left side, I get flickering. Only about half a centimeter width, but I still find it annoying. I wonder what the chances of Apple sending me a replacement machine before I have to send this one back are, because this is my only machine.

Contact he them ASAP and tell them that it is your only computer and you need to work,I think they ll do that

Watch the potty mouth. Was leaving out the bad words so hard?

Hope you get that fixed! -
aww that sucks Lysander. :/ Well like posters above wrote just tell them this is your only computer and you need it for work and they will let you keep it until your new one comes.
I'm talking out of own experience since I got to keep the defect MBP until my new one comes, I decided to keep it until friday though thats the earliest date the replacement arrives and latest tuesday. Doesn't matter much since I'll be wasted the whole weekend. -
Yes, they were great about sending me replacements, but they had to send two until I got one I could live with (various defects on the previous ones
).
I really hope you can get yours replaced Lysander. I cannot imagine why tech support would be so bad there. Let us know how it goes! -

Thing is though, the guy tried to sell me Applecare. Said "You only have 40 days of phone support left, so unless you have purchased Applecare if the problem comes back after that time you will not be able to call us." What bullcrap. I might just ring back after my 90 days is up even if there is no problem just to spite them. -
I never do things out of spite, first of it never works and second it's just dumb.
Honestly, if you wait past 40 days they will cut you off cold and then you're shot in the foot. What I would suggest is contact them ASAP and try to reach someone who is not happy to have a job like those in india and explain that you have a problem and that you'd like to replace without paying $40 and still no problem is fixed.
I was informed that most laptops have horrible warrenty, which is why unless you buy extra warrenty to cover you for up to (3) years you pay out of your teeth or have major headaches. -

Well his Asus has a good warranty, they have the 360 service. Free ship to get it fixed, free ship back. and 1 year accidental coverage meaning you can set it on fire, drop it, have it run over by a car and they still fix/replace it for free 1 time in the first year.
If there was ever a consistent issue with the MBP's that I noticed its screen problems. I am sure I have seen threads on this forum where people have had to change out there unit 2 or 3 or 4 times to get one with a good screen.
My EEE Mac has no issues luckily -
practice makes perfect.

I can handle a laptop having a 1 year warranty, thats usually standard, but saying they wont take your call after the first 90 days is a little cheap.
-
Yeah apple has gotten to arrogant for their own good.
-
Apple support is overrated. You will get somewhat decent support, but only if you purchase AppleCare. Otherwise, they will treat you like dirt. Getting AppleCare for every single Apple product gets expensive.

$108 with live.com cashback on ebay for the Macbook.
$149 for the Macbook Pro.
To Heck with Apple!
