Allright guys , in the near future due to my job , i might have to travel internationally to a different location and really really really wanted to carry my ACD 27" with me . Before i ask for suggestions ...i wanna make the following things clear

1.Shipping not a option since its costing 500$ ...Dont have that much money
2.Buying expensive cases like Pelican - which are around the same price

Any suggestions ...if anyone has ever basically checked in there cinema display on a flight ....27" specifically ...like in the original box or in a suitcase ...or even managed to carry it ...in a ilugger in a carry on ....which i personally dont think is possible....but any suggestions ...would be super helpful ...sorry if this has been asked before ..i couldn't find anything but this wil really help me

Don't think it would be allowed as carry on? Probably too big even if it you took it without any protection on it. Don't know about checked luggage, it could work, but I would be worried if it would make it in one piece, could be possible, but you would have to package it prettty well. Maybe if you could use a smaller one? Although the 2560x1440 display is very nice though.

How long are you going to be on the assignment? You might consider buying an ACD once you get there, then selling it before you leave. Might be the cheaper route.

I always keep monitor original boxes... they are great to have later for times like this.

Why not original box inside of a hard shell suitcase haha? Would be a pretty big suitcase but they should exist.

only advice I can give is make bloody certain it never winds up face down in transit. the mounts and board on the back can push down and break the LCD Panel. I have had a couple break this way even in factory packaging. make sure it is panel up or standing upright.

Have you thought about contacting an audio visual/music store in your area? They may have pelican style cases that you could rent...musicians/tradeshows taking equipment on the road, etc...
Or contact rent a stores, and see if they have any options.

It depends. Some places will, and some might not. I live in Madison WI and we have a local place named Full Compass Systems that is a major A/V retailer. They do a lot of selling and renting of high end equipment for bands/tradeshows, etc.

Or a music store (sells instruments) might have roadie style cases that might be airline approved.

Or just any Rent-a-center might not have one in stock but they could maybe order one from another store.

Or just buy a pelican case and resell it when you get back. They do hold their value pretty well, and it would be worlds cheaper than shipping it.

I'm starting to think that the suitcase and bubble wrap is not the worst idea (if you have to bring it with you). But I would try to pack in some hard upright boxes as spacers in the corner to prevent the entire suitcase or a corner from being smushed underneath some heavier, sturdier suitcases in da plane boss!
