I'm a recent convert and just bought a MBP.
I read some threads mentioning setting up 3 accounts on the OSX:
1. Admin account
2. Account w/ admin privs
3. limited everyday account
My question is, on the limited account, will I have to log out and log in to install programs (like in Windows)?
Or will it simply prompt me for the admin username and pw when I install something?
Thanks.

Hmm we use macs at my multimedia course, and our accounts are limited
When we try to install an app or change settings in the preferences, it asks for the admin password
It might be the same as what you are trying to do.. -
It will ask you to input the admin user/pass.

All it will do is ask you to authorize the install by entering the admin user and admin password. Quite simple and convienient.

Yeah thats pretty good feature
You can do that in windows too can't you? right click the exe and go to Run as or something... I'd rather do it the mac way
-
Yea you can but it's inconvenient in Windows.
I wonder if separate accounts on a single system even helps that much in Windows - there are plenty of random security vulnerabilities and spyware and whatnot you can get that don't require admin privs that can mess up your system bad enough anyway.
