Hey guys and gals, just trying to get some opinions on what I should do here. I'm looking to get a 13" MBP on Newegg and I can't decide if I should get the base model for $1199 or an open box model with an i7, 8GB, 750GB for $1125. I'm just worried about getting my first macbook and opening it to see scratches and stuff.

Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
I would get the refurb, and yes its possible that there is some little cosmetic damage.

Open box items are impossible to judge from online stores since you can't ask the sales person to open the box for you to inspect the unit. There might be nothing wrong with it or there could be a scratch or dent. That is a good price for the 13" MBP model since as the same configuration from Apple would set you back by $1500 (which is way too much for what comes in it). As long as Newegg has a return policy that you like, I would buy the open box item. If you don't like it or something happens within their return period, you can always send it back.
