So, I click the download link and choose open with stuffit expander. The download saves to my desktop as a .bin file and is automatically set to open with Quicktime for some reason. So, i right click on the WindowsMediaInstaller.bin file and choose 'open with' but I can't find stuffit expander any where. What should I do?

Unless media player is a must, I'd recommend you use something like Quicktime for your MacBook since they stopped developing WMP after version 9 on macs.
-
You could install Vista on your mac and not have to worry about the older version of windows media player.
-
If you want to view .wmv files in Quicktime download Flip4Mac (backed by Microsoft, although not created by Microsoft). -
I have some wmv files that I have to watch for school unfortunately.
I downloaded the flip4mac plug-in for wmv files so the problem is solved.
thanks guys! -
No problem, JoshuaLX. Enjoy your newfound ability to watch WMV files on Quicktime
. And good luck in school

You can always use VLC Player.
Also, try uninstalling WMP9. You will enjoy that process. -
OK, I've installed flip4mac, but I still can't see wmv files through Quicktime. I get an error saying something about the file not being a movie. Please help.
I installed directly from windows website and ran the program and it said it installed, but when I try to launch a wmv using quicktime, I still get the error saying the file is not a movie. Any suggestions would be great. -
Well, I don't run .wmv files through Quicktime on Mac. I recommend using VLC Player as it comes with most codecs already..well, at least with it's Windows' counterpart.

Flip4Mac has always worked from me when playing WMVs, but as knp said VLC is a nice, free media player that plays almost anything.
