    Turn around time on warranty repairs

    I am curious what people average as the turn around time on warranty repairs and how often over, say, 3 years they bring it in for repair. Thanks!

    1 week for me at the Apple Store. I've had one repair each for two MBPs for the nVidia problem.

    Varies on machine and your location, for me in western canada it is normally 1-4 weeks per repair. had a Low of 6 days with overnight shipping and a high of 7 weeks for a motherboard replacement.

    as for how often they go in ... that really varies by user and situations it is used in.

    Around 4-5 days for me. I had the motherboard and DVD drive replaced.

    5 Macs in my house at the moment... the oldest one is over 3 years old.. the newest is about 8 months old....

    Have had 1 17" MBP motherboard replaced when it was 1.5 years old for the bad 8600 issue. took about 6 days total from mailing it to them to getting it back.

    Have had 1 screen inverter changed out in my old original MBP 3 years ago when it was brand new cuz it made a buzzing sound... I changed it out myself, so I only had to wait a day for them to get the part to me, and 30 minutes to swap it out.... was nice back then when I was Apple Certified, and they paid me to fix my own machine under warranty :) The battery in this was also part of a battery recall, but they mailed me one out within a couple days of me requesting it, so no big deal.... also on this machine the AC adapter power cord burnt itself... kinda just fried in one spot. This was the only time I was near and able to take my computer to an Apple Store to get something fixed. They did not have any power adapters in stock, so I talked the guy into lending me one from one of their machines. 3 weeks later, they still didn't have any more in (pretty bad) so I told them to forget it and just keep it if it comes in and I'll keep their loaner.... the loaner is still working fine a few years later.

    other than that, everythings been great....

    the only other Macs I ever owned I don't still have was an old Powerbook 12"er, and the only thing that ever went bad in it was the battery after about 3 years, but I used it on the battery a lot... so I was expecting that. And a G4 tower that I had a few years and gave away... from last I heard when the friend I gave it to gave it away to someone else, it was still running with no problems.

    I have seen plenty of Macs with problems.. work related.. but personally I've had very good luck.... warranty issues I've seen on work ones aren't typical since its mostly done through a different company thats Apple AUthorized and do onsite work.... depending on getting parts and figuring out the issues and having cascading failures... would take a few days to a few weeks.

    I'd always recommend if you have an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) anywhere nearby, to check them out and get buddy buddy with them, most I have dealt with are small businesses and value you as a customer more than Apple in general will, and take extra steps to make sure your happy.
