I know that the iBook uses DDR memory, so can I simply swap in a Kingston Value Ram 512mb PC2700 module from my Windows XP laptop into the iBook?

Yes you may. The iBook G4 uses standard PC2700 DDR SDRAM, 200-pin SO-DIMMS. It's not Apple-specific in any way.

I know from experience that the stick you are looking at is just fine. What Rev. is your iBook?
