I have two questions about the MBP:
1.) Are there any undervolting apps available for OS10 like there are for XP (RMClock, NHC, etc)?
2.) Do the MBP run any hotter under one OS or the other (OS10 or XP)?

    Thanks.

Sorry if this is a newbie question....I am a mac virgin.

    1) Not that I am aware of.
    2) I would say XP runs hotter than OS X.

RogueMonk Maybe the average CPU utilization is higher on XP..... I can barely notice slow GUI movement with 512 of ram on OSX, but I do notice some on XP

I really am not sure why. Perhaps XP is a little more processor intensive. I really don't know. I do know the fan comes on alot more and the bottom does get hotter in XP than OS X.

That has to do with the video, Bootcamp is still basically beta as well as Parallels, and the video issue seems to be the one they are having some issues with.

Yes, my OS X with 512 ram (I just ordered 2x1GB G.skill sticks today) runs fairly well, however I noticed because of the amount of ram space there is a lot of transferring between the HDD and Ram, thus slowing the loading/actions of some programs.

xbandaidx yea, im also planing on getting 2x1GB. If that more HDD thing is true then by getting 2 gigs ull get better battery life, is that true?

Well...when you think about it, it would make sense because you wouldn't have to constantly spin the HDD to move information back and forth to the small 512MB ram, but I wouldn't expect the battery life to be greatly improved though, maybe like an extra 10 minutes? Heck it might even drop the temperature a degree or two. I didn't really think about that yet even considering I just recently purchased 2x1GB G.Skill sticks from newegg.com

Now if you could find a large 100GB HDD with 7200 RPM it would simply take up the amount of extra minutes you gained from the ram so it balances out. You'd get desktop HDD speeds.

Thing is I'm having a hard time even finding a harddrive that is SATA with at least 100GB thats running at 7200 RPM for a good price, Newegg has none at all that meet my requirements, none are notebook size.
