So, i got the new macbook pro and would like to undervolt it as i am getting 60 degrees just from using skype, browsing and listenint to music (with the fan at 6200rpm)
has anyone tried yet?
what voltages are you using?
thanks in advance

really? I thought the new MBP was supposed to run cool? :S
-
it runs cool, but i do run it on my lap from time to time.. and it does gets\ a little too warm for my liking..
-
i'm also interested in this!

I think it's better to just try it for yourself.
There is no point in using other people's voltages because each CPU is different.
I remember other forums having more information about Coolbook, not sure if it was Macrumors or another. -
true, but i just wanted to at least know if it works with the Penryn chips, cause on the website it says that there are issues with the santa rosa platform
-
I bought the full version for 10 bucks and try it on the new macbook. Unfortunately doesnt work. It doesnt display the voltages or the clock speeds, so you can't alter anything. I dont know if its the CPU or the updated mac os.
-
Hmm that's no good. I guess you need to run Windows then to benefit from undervolting
-
Just and update, coolbook now works with the new macbooks. Still testing it to see about battery life.

I do believe one of the reasons why the bottom gets hotter is due to the aluminum shell being a giant heatsink dispersing heat since I don't see any vents.
-
look under the hinge
-
Yeah there's a vent under the hinge
The aluminum body does act like a heatsink, but its not as bad as my previous dell....
