Is the keyboard for the unibody MBP EXACTLY the same as the white macbook keyboards except for it being black? I thought on the apple website it said that the keys were curved a little bit which is not the case on the white mackbook.
-
I doubt it they both are similar, bit I am sure they have their differences.
-
You are correct; They are essentially the same.
-
Seems to be a very smart thing they did from a production cost perspective - the keys seem to be identical across the entire range, even the desktop keyboards.
-
I guess they are the same...
-
Yep, they are the same. Compared my Macbook's keyboard to a buddy's MBP, and they have the exact same keyboard.
There's no difference that we could pick out.
-
I think they use the macbook black keyboard leftover to make the unibody keyboad. -
Nice try haquocdung!!! But you have forgotten that the 2.4Ghz ones have backlit keyboards.
-
-
So the keys are exactly flat? I read that the new unibody keyboards were curved a bit.
-
No. they are completely flat.
If you want to, you can technically swap the unibody's keyboard for the black macbook's. -
-
From what I can see - and I own the 13, 15 and 17-inch unibody Crapbooks and have owned Airs - as well as wireless and wired keyboards, the wireless BT keyboard uses exactly the same key mouldings as the unibody Crapbooks (including the Air, which is first-gen unibody) do. The wired keyboard uses some differently shaped keys, but all the common keys also seem to use the same key mouldings. Of course, the actual key material is different for the differently coloured keys.

if you carfully inspect the notebook, you will notice that the keys don't curve up (like th bottom of a circle), the apple keyboard actually curve down. sort of like the top of a circle. just inspect one at the apple store.
-
Have you considered the effect of hundreds of hands?
-
Anyways, The unibody keyboard keys do have a curve to them. You can tell the difference when you use a apple wireless keyboard and then use the unibody key board. -
woah didnt know that they curved... is it by design? what effect would this have on ergonomics if its that minor that we wouldnt even notice it?
-
It's the same on both keyboards. The white keyboards have a different texture - slightly more hardwearing, and the fact that they're white means that it's also more difficult to see as well.
-
-
Mine is flat but perhaps it's curved by a few micrometers.
-
just get in hand with my new MBP unibody today and I dont fell that much different between my old macbook black and Unibody MBP keyboad.
-
Heh did you buy it online or did you buy it at the store haquo?
-
-
-
was it new or used?
-
Warranty start April 20th -
It could just be a matter of the same mould, but a different top finish - especially as the backlit keys have a smoother (and much easier to turn 'shiny') finish than the desktop keys.
