New unibody MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air users might want to fire up Software Update -- Apple's got some updated firmware for you. As usual, notes on what problems the new code might fix are pretty light, but let's hope they address the plethora of problems plaguing Apple's latest laptops. Give it a shot, and be sure to let us know how it goes in the comments.

I updated a few hours ago, and all is well. -
yeah, hopefully it will fix the vista freezes that i am having while browsing the internet
-
I updated it, On restart it made a loud beep and I thought something went wrong and I almost pooped my self, I later found out that that is suppose to happen. They should freaking warn you.
-
hey guys, I've had my new MBP for a while now, and I'm wondering, the fan noise is it louder on the right side for you too? Its like I can hear it through the right speaker, the fans are only on 2k rpm, they're pretty audible in my opinion.
The MBP gets pretty hot while playing wc3 with the M9400, but ramping up the fans to 4k rpm keeps it relatively cool, but its pretty loud in my opinion at 4k rpm. :S
So tell me of your experiences. -
@ 2k i cant hear them at all
i can only start hearing them >3k
and the fans are more positioned to the right side
and yeah it does get warm playing war3 -
lol I just installed the smc update and the fans went up to 6k during the install.. hahahaha it sounds like a ing hair dryer
at those speeds.. remind me not to play demanding games.
Cant take that noise at all.
-
no, it went over 6k while it was installing the smc, because i was at 6k before (running warcraft) and then suddenly it boosted even more
i was like, ! this thing is gonna blow! -
hahaha
it kinda reminded me of those hand dryers at restrooms.
-
my current notebook does that a lot but it's good now because I can use it as a hand warmer/heater during this winter. You might even use it as a lap warmer
-
i can't remember the last time i did the SMC update.. i think it was with my MB, its not that loud though.
did you guys press the power button during restart for couple of second before the update initialize? or is it not necessary with new generation nvidia chipset MBP? -
Some people on macrumors are reporting that temps have gone up after update? Do I really need to update? I've never had any of those problems listed. ehhh I'll probably do it anyways...
-
It's kind of like the person at the beginning of this thread who stated there's a plethora of problems with the new MB and MBPs...hysteria for really no reason.
Should you update? Don't know about you, but I like my toys running at optimum performance levels and I think that if Apple thought this was important enough to build/release, it might just be worthwhile to install it...
Then again, I do the same thing on the PC side...when I find a BIOS update for one of my boards, I always take the time to install it to make sure I am running the most current firmware... -
You are looking at the unit upside down. When flipped over in the use position the fans are on the left. -

) so I'm not familiar with Apple ways of doing things. Typically on most software, I would skim through the 'Release Notes' on exactly what the update will gonna do to my machine, and what they will gonna fix.
However, I couldn't find that before I download and install the Apple updates. Do Apple even release that? Where can I find such information? -
There's another update, or at least for me. Run your updates again.
