    - What is the Unibody Macbooks display made from?
    - Wil it scratch?
    - Will the keyboard hit it?
    - For some off reason my keyboard backlight wont turn on, it just has a O with a / going through it. And its a 2.4ghz model.
    - Its also plugged in charged at 95%, and it says not charging.

You can only activate your backlight on the keybaord if you're in a dark enough environment/room due to the built-in ambient light sensor that is located close to the iSight camera at the top of the screen.

    LED matrix.

Haven't tried myself, but I believe it would if you rub it with a hard enough material. Sand paper would be a good starting choice if you want to experiment yourself.

When you close the lid? It shouldn't.

    What SPEED said.

It's to prevent the battery from constantly recharging itself. It will only start recharging to full when the charge is below 95%.

I would say it's very easy to get scratch.
Bought myself a hard shell cover today.

The screen is glass, so it will be stronger then plastic and more difficult to scratch.... but not impossible. You should notice a small lip around the edge of the screen this is what stops the keyboard from touching it.
    a
    :)
ps for the charging question, this is normal. Drain your battery down more and then it will start to charge again. The feature is there to stop the battery from being over charged.

Yeah, the keyboard is recessed in and there is a lip around the screen witch helps it not touch the keyboard. Unlike other company's where having key scruffs on your screen is "normal".

I always carry my notebook in a neoprene sleeve. I prefer staying away from hard shells as i fear it may scratch the edge of m notebook.

    No it doesn't.
I trust the hardshell case more than the sleeve.

Yep, this is what I chose to do. Just go to System Preferences and there should be an option in one of the tabs to turn it off. I'll edit this post when I get home to my Macbook, to show you a step by step way to do it. ;)

I thought the same thing; however I've heard that some people have had dirt get between the case and their macbook and this has caused scratches. I am also concerned about cooling as the unibody serves as an excellent heatsink, until you cover it with plastic...

I would say that it gets quite hot under load and this is a good sign of heat dissipation. I don't know about the dirt but if haquocdung said there's no scratch, then you may it assured that hard shells are pretty good. She may help you concerning the heat dissipation.

Having mine hardshell cover on, there is no difference in term of heat (CPU, GPU, and HDD)
If you scare of dust get inside, get an invisible shield for that.

    Hi All,
I heard that alu version easier to crack or something like that if hard items bump it. cause its alu-hard-character compare to poly-elastic-material.

    is it true?
    (sorry for my english) ;-)

    thanks.

So you're saying that you can also turn on the keyboard light in brightly lit environments? How do you do that? I'm asking because my buddy had a 2.4GHz Alu MB & when I play with his, I cannot activate the backlit keyboard in brightly-lit environments.

never said anything about brightly lit environments, just that you can turn auto control off and control the brightness manually... no by default it wont work in brightly lit environments even on manual and not automatic control. No idea why you'd want to have it on when its already bright enough to see the keyboard fine.

Neoprene sleeve will scratch your macbook overtime. Just find pictures of old ipod video's back and it'll look similar to that after a couple year of use.

Aluminum is very soft and is less scratch resistant than some of the better plastic.

This is a bit over over exaggeration.

I've dropped a mbp once before, there's nothing a neoprene sleeve will do to help that!

The hard case on the other hand will definitely give it a better chance of survival.

This is in terms of the body, not the internals.

Are you sure about your source? I know for a fact that anodised aluminum is resistant to scratches not caused by pointed objects and metals.

A good neoprene sleeve should have a microfiber lining.

Yep, like the Incase Neoprene sleeve. That has a very soft lining and is very good for protecting from scratches. ;) Just got one a couple weeks ago, and it's been great for my Macbook. Fit's snug like a bug in a rug. :D

If you don't believe me, rub your macbook's aluminum body with your hoodie or something for an hour. You'll notice there will be at least 100 tiny scratches on it.

Anodised alumin is resistant to big scratches unless scratches are made by hadrer or pointy material.
