    Hi!

I think i have a similar problem to Talin http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=318471 but i am using a macbook pro with nvidia card, is there a way to unstretch the game? id rather have black bars on the left and right than having everything squashed.

Also if i run i a windows, is there a way to lock the mouse in the game, without it going all the way to the desktop?

    thanks in advance.

In warcraft III for mac, I have 1400x900 resolution in Options, which gives proper images without stretching. Which W3 version are you using ?

yeah, i have the 1440x900 option, and i selected it and the image is still stretched, there is no way to have a 16:10 scale without stretching, or else you would have a greater view distance which would be unfair.

It's a warcraft 3 thing not a particular bias. It's the same for XP and Vista. Very simply, Warcraft 3 was coded long before widescreens were even hinted at and for some reason, blizzard can't patch it.

i know, but in XP and Vista you can set it not to stretch using the nvidia controla panel, you can just have is stretched but with the same aspect ratio, having the black bars on the sides

Can you play the game in windowed mode? Windowed mode doesn't stretch the picture.

I messed with my friend's drivers once and that seemed to fix the issue. Not sure if I would recommend that though... Are you playing it on Windows or OS X?

Have you updated warcraft at all? Because when I launch WC3, it's set to 1440x900, and I have lots of other option for resolutions, and mine was updated a while ago.

And I'm pretty sure its not stretched (this is within osx)

Yeah, I was trying to find a way to maintain the aspect ratio when playing WC3. I couldn't for the life of me find one. Really sucks cause it meant Dota was only decent on XP.

There is the 1440 x 900 option, the options and etc are not stretched, but the game itself is (just look at the "clock" where it shows the sun and etc, its oval)

there is no way that you're game is not stretched at 16:10 ratio

Ah yea, I was just going by the menus, didnt actually go ingame to see if it was stretched or not. Couldn't remember.

But I know the feeling, I've had a widescreen monitor for years now, way before games really started supporting it. So I was stuck playing games stretched, or finding hacks to get it into widescreen.

But it looks like, even in windows( and with some hacks~), its stretched, so I guess theres nothing really you can do.

Other then to complain to blizzard ;p

thats not true, in windows, you can go to the nvidia control panel and set it to stretch with fixed aspect ratio.

I meant that if you set it to 1440x900 in windows, it will stretch it the same way as in osx. Info is here

I know what you mean though, that if you set it to a 4:3 resolution, it will pillarbox it so that it's not stretched. I know that in windows, that's achieved using the drivers.

OSX, I guess from what you say, doesn't have that option so it just will stretch it no matter the resolution.

Although I know for certain games, in OSX, if you play in 4:3, it will put up pillarboxes, though maybe its just the game that does, or some games byp.ss this function,

I see what you're saying with that. And I just wont bother commenting. Do some research.

so basically you want to play in 1200x900 resolution with black bars on the sides, so that the game is running native resolution, kind of (no interpolation), and also so that the game itself is running in its native aspect ratio.

keep in mind that in windows, if you run the game 1440x900, its stretched, period.

have you tried setting up a custom resolution of 1200x900 in the mac version? have you considered dual booting into windows for better gaming support?

    yeah, 1280 x 800 is the same.
I really don't want to install windows.
I kind of got used to is stretched now.
