Loooks like the white Macbook has been updated again. Now it has a 2.13GHz CPU (previously 2GHz), 2GB DDR2 800MHz RAM (previously used DDR2 667MHz RAM) and 160GB HD (120GB HD prevously). Is this really a big deal??? I'm sure the aluminum updates should get some sort of "bump up" in the near future.
I may just get the 2.0GHz model (since it is now selling for less $$$), update the RAM to 4GB, take out the 120GB HD and put in a 320GB 7200 RPM HD and be done with it.
-
i think it's a new generation processor. 130 megahertz isn't going to change anything thing noticeably.
-
#$*%^!!! Freak, I just got this macbook (early 2009).
Does anyone know if it will support 800MHz DDR2, or is a firmware update needed? I already have a 4GB 667MHz kit installed.
-
Looks like the title of this thread should've been "2.0GHz white Macbook or new 2.13GHz white Macbook." Since the new 2.13GHz white Macbooks are out, the 2.0GHz white Macbooks have dropped in price. Other than from hard drive size, I can't really see a big difference in performance.
-
yeah you probably wont see much of a difference in performance. but why not go with the new 2.13ghz / 160gb white macbook anyways? same price as the old one.
how much are you finding the 2.0ghz/120gb one to be? I don't even see it being sold on apples site anymore?
edit: oh yeah the memory is faster too. damn i should have waited to buy my macbook. bah. oh well.
yeah go for the new 2.13ghz one. with 800mhz memory its definitely worth it. -
I'm seeing a lower price of $889 on amazon.com. Also, I'm seeing $849.99 (after rebate) from the MacConnection.
I might as well get that, bump up the RAM to 4GB, take out the old HD and put in a 320GB HD running at 7200RPM. Unfortunately, it'll be a while before I buy something due to lack of $$$. Would like to see if there are any more notebook updates if and when Snow Leopard is released. -
What's the CPU in the new one? T5850?
-
AFAIK,mbs use T7xxx CPUs
-
Ok then it's T7400.
-
but ain't the t7400 is the old generation processors??
-
Yes it is. Maybe it's old stock.
-
my old macbook had t7400,but it was 2 years old-I think they now use penryn CPU's(2.0 was t7350)
-
Maybe it's a newer model yeah. Would be strange if they're using T7400.
-
I just remembered that cpu in 2,0 is p7350,not t
-
But it's 2.16GHz. I can not find any P with 2.16GHz. Maybe it's new.
Closest is P7450 with 2.13GHz. -
But the updated one is 2.13.
What's interesting is that the White is now more powerful, of sorts, than the 300-dollar-more-expensive unibody, and with larger hard drive choices... upcoming spec update, anyone? -
Good catch. so it's P7450 in the White Macbook...
-
If only I had waited....
-
same here
i really didnt think that apple was going to update the white macbook line again. oh well. the new hardware definitely makes the unibody slightly less attractive now in comparison to the white macbook. -
Which kind of surprises me that they would upgrade it again so quickly, especially when it is looking better and better compared to the unibody. Why would Apple want to hurt there unibody sales? Unless they are confident the sales will remain strong. When I finally got to see it in an apple store in person, I admit it's a very beautiful notebook.
-
I assume they're going to update the unibody very soon, since I don't think they'll want to have the whitebook having a better cpu for too long...
Isn't WWDC coming up soon?
-
Would be cool if they also updated the screens in these new Macbooks as well
-
Those white macbooks are a lot more economical compared to the unibodies.
-
u mean cheaper. Yes, for budget minded people, it is nice.
-
Well... not just cheaper, also more performance for the money.
The white MB is now faster and cheaper than the base MB unibody model. For at least another week
-
Good I bought the white book
-
lol!!!!!!!!!Yes, apple will surely update the alu base macbook.
-
Anyone notice that it's battery life is now on par with the unibody? I don't see why people would really pay that much more for a unibody when the white one's internals are now more powerful/equal to the unibody.
Then again i guess there are plenty of reasons one could think of. -
you are right, there are a few reasons such as the ram, the casing, the new form factor, etc but i would go with the plastic one because it's the best value for money mac.
-
And the LED screen that is much brighter.
And if the first user experiences are true, it's also higher in contrast. -
So I take it they did not upgrade that screen quietly as well
Would have been nice if they upgraded that screen.
-
i think it was the unibody one which had a problem with the screen having limited viewing angles. but now apple has replaced them with newer, better ones.
-
I've got to say, that for the price this is going for, compared to other Macs, this is the best bang for the buck that they have right now. I'm really interested in what they will be doing to upgrade the unibody and Pro.
-
yes, best value for money for a mac, no arguing about tht,
-
Nice to see some updates to the White Macbook. Now the Unibodies have some competition.
-
Beware Colton!! but do not worry, yours is made up of aluminum im sure it will retain its value and
Btw, nice to see you back again.
Updated white Macbook
