Hey im looking at buying the black macbook. Its 200 bucks though to upgrade Ram. I heard it is more complicated though to upgrade yourself on macs should i let mac do it or should i Do it myself and if so what are good sites to order Ram off of?

Don't buy RAM from Apple, there are cheaper alternatives. Its very simple to upgrade RAM (or change the hard drive) on the MacBook; it is harder on the MacBook Pro. There are tons of YouTube videos and guides that show you step-by-step how to add more RAM onto your MacBook.

You can go to the Mac stores here in Vancouver (Mac Station, Simply Computing, WestWorld) and ask about RAM. I'm not sure if they sell RAM there but its worth a try. If not, go to Future Shop and ask the specialists for a MacBook-compatible RAM. Crucial, Kingston, Corsair make highly reliable RAM sticks.

Hmm...no idea. If you really aren't confident in installing your RAM check with Best Buy to see how much it would cost for Geek Squad installation. Although I think it would cost more than just adding RAM directly from Apple :p.

    Hey

I found one for you. Transcend 1 GB Single stick DDR2 667 for $39.99 (Tax paid), you will have to check on shipping though.

BTW, MacBooks ship with 512X2 RAM. So you will have to purchase 1GBX2 and maybe sell 512X2 on ebay.

One more thing, I have used a black macbook earlier, I bought it cause it appealed to me more than white one, but let me tell you, that black matt surface is a very nice trap for your finger prints. It gets all messy, you clean it and they are there within 2 minutes. If that doesn't bother you, go ahead with black.

Its just a little hard to maintain. I would recommend to get a white one.
