    Thats weird, my friend has the exact same damage in the exact same place on his macbook. But he did not get it fixed, he just covered it with a piece of tape lol. I guess that happens from the bumpers on the top of the screen when you close it.

    I have the exact same damage on my 8 months old macbook. I just taped over it, because I don't feel like being without a laptop for a week or more. In my opinion it is caused by the way you move your hand over the edge of the laptop - ie. you move your hands up and down on the laptop, without lifting your wrists... I'll probabaly get it fixed sometime before my warranty runs out.

    less than a week...someone's macbook i know had the exact same crack...it's a common problem..they just swap the top panel. he had it back in 3 days. easy fix.

    @OP: How did that happen? Bought a MB when they were first released; it had a couple of issues (heat, flickering screen) but never any cracks. Have considered another, but didn't know that cracking had become a common problem.

    This is a common problem and Apple is aware of this issue. I had it fixed within 24 hours and I did not have any warranty left on the macbook.

    If I hadn't already broken my warranty several times over, I'd consider replacing my cracked / taped macbook with a new keyboard thingy too. How long did you have to leave your laptop with them, out of curiosity?
