I know a guy who is selling his MBP because he wants to get the new ones when they launch later this year. Here what he is selling:

    Purchased last year May 2007.

    Specs:
    2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo
    2 GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM PC2-5300
    120 GB SATA 5,400 rpm
    ATI Radeon X1600 128 MB GDDR3
    6x Dual-layer SuperDrive
    15.4" Screen (non-gloss)
    Airport Extreme
    Includes Tiger
All original box and remotes and cables and books and install cds.

He is selling the laptop for $1300.00 CDN, which I think is too high for the somewhat outdated specs. I personally feel that it is too steep of a price for the specs and would only pay up to $1000.00. If possible should I purchase the laptop for $1000.00 or simply find something else. Thanks.

personally i dont think its a very good deal, no dedicated graphics card, only 2 gigs of ram and old specs, old op etc

the new MBP's base model are similar to this but i believe with a little better stats... and new... i think personally i would pass up this deal and look elsewhere for a better more reasonable deal :D

Floduer911, actually, the ATI Radeon X1600 is dedicated graphics, just old :p.

Yeah, the price is too high...pretty new MBPs can be found for about $1500 so there really isn't any incentive to get this at $1300.

What about at $1000? Or should I wait a month for the new Macs?

If you need the computer RIGHT NOW, there's no need to wait. But if you can hold on, there's new stuff to be had! :D

I'm buying the computer mainly for school, but I think I can hold out another month if it means getting a better computer. BTW has there been any specs released or leaked on the new Macs?

See how much you can barter down lower.. say, to $800.. that'd be a pretty good deal I think. I doubt he'd go that low though.

If you're wondering, you can probably expect the new Macbook Pros to have a 9600gt graphics card, Intel Core 2 Duos, and most of the stuff that's already available. Looks on the other hand, are up for grabs.

Well it's not like Apple has ever really screwed up in the looks department, I'm actually really curious to see what the new MacBooks with have in them. I'm hoping that the new ones will have a dedicated graphics card and not that Intel GMA 950 $#!t.

Could look like any of those! Except probably not the third one.

And you can expect dedicated graphics considering the current ones have dedicated graphics.

The current ones have 8600GT graphics cards, which are nvidias midrange offering. I'm assuming the new ones will have 9600GTs, which perform slightly better than the 8600GTs.

Nope. It's annoying when you're trying to do plural graphics cards. I changed the capitalization to clear things up. I guess I could use apostrophes, which would actually be grammatically correct I think.

This probably applies to two letters, no?

    Obscure grammar rules are nice.

    So you'd just say 8600GTs :D

Okay I totally messed that up. We were talking about plurals. :D
That's what sleeping only a few hours does to you!

So when using plurals I'd say:

Two 8600m GTs in SLi could increase performance, or
Two 8600m gt-s in SLi could increase performance.

Like when using: "that's kind of a fanboy -ish remark"

    :D

Oh jeez, I need to get some sleep! :D
(and we're getting seriously off topic)
