    Hello community,

I am sure I missed some settings. When I attach an external VGA screen to my MBP 17" the external display remains black. However it's activated in my ATI settings. In OSX the external display works perfectly.

    Where is the mistake?

    Thanks a lot for help,

    Tobias

Was the display plugged in when you booted the computer? If not , try that.

    Does not change anything :-(

Maybe one more thing: if I check the ATI "advanced" settings under "displays", my TFT is recognized correctly, even with the correct max. resolution etc. It just does not get a signal from the Macbook...

I was able to use dual screens on my MBP. It could be an issue of how much the VGA will support on the MB. If you are trying to extend the desktop, you are probably going above the supported resolution, or at least the MB thinks you are. That's my only guess. Does it work mirrored?

**EDIT** NVM, I am an idiot and did not read that you have 17" MBP. Although the same thing could cause the problem.

Does not work, neither mirrored nor extended (both work fine under OSX).
