Okay this is basically what happened. I bought a MacBook in December from MacConnection's promotion where they offered VMWare Fusion 2.0 for free after rebate. I ended up returning the Macbook because it didn't meet my expectations, but I wasn't able to return the software because their policy was that I couldn't return anything from that company (VMWare).
During the time I had the Macbook I installed it and registered the software. Now that I don't have a Mac anymore, I have no need for the software and am planning on selling it either here or on eBay. Basically everything is in retail packaging and nothing is missing. The UPC is intact because I didn't send in the rebate, so essentially I purchased it for the full price of seventy dollars.
I emailed VMWare about the registration, and if they could remove the entry from the database, and they replied the negative, but were willing to transfer the registration if I requested it.

So how much would I be able to sell the software for?

I would think full price, if they transfer the registration in a reasonable time zone. Mabye knock some off, because it's been opened, plus you've already messed with the CD, which some people think should lower the price dramatically.

You would probably have a hard time selling it on ebay if you have to transfer the registration, most people would just say it's a scam, specially if you have low feed back.
You will be able to sell it for, for what some one want's to pay. -
Doubt you will get much for it, with it opened and everything and especially if you have to transfer the registration.
