I am looking between Parallels and VMWare to run Windows because I hate rebooting everytime into BootCamp and I came across VMWare and VMWare - Academic at the Apple online store. Are both versions the same but one is marketed toward students hence the title and $39.95 price tag vs $79.95?

I would like to know this too.

I believe feature-wise they are the same. The only thing is you can't use it in a commercial setting for profit due to the academic license.
-
Yeah, I'm pretty sure they are the same, just you probably need a student number and school name in order to buy the Academic lisnece. Basically you are allowed to use it as a student, but not for profit, and not for something like a company computer. I got the Academic license for Adobe CS3 design premium a while ago and the ONLY difference is the price tag and that I can't use it for a business.
